CFP Media Retargeting Workshop at ECCV 2010

------------------- CALL FOR PAPERS ------------------- MEDIA RETARGETING WORKSHOP in conjunction with ECCV 2010, September 10, Crete, Greece http://www.vision.ee.ethz.ch/MRW2010 OVERVIEW Media retargeting is the process of adapting media content such as images or video to the characteristics of different output devices. Media retargeting has received considerable attention in computer vision and graphics research in the recent years due to the growing variability in capture devices and displays (small displays in mobile devices, large high resolution displays in home cinema systems) and the availability of huge amounts of image and video data. Besides converting video between different display sizes, the spectrum of problems related to media retargeting also comprises issues such as color adaptation between different dynamic ranges, or the automatic conversion of 2D to 3D footage for upcoming stereoscopic consumer display devices. The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners from all areas of computer vision, machine learning, and computer graphics, and to stimulate the discussion about shared concepts and recent progress on topics ranging from perceptual content analysis over efficient optimization algorithms for retargeting to systematic evaluation of already existing techniques. CALL FOR PARTICIPATION We invite high quality, original submissions for presentation during the workshop. Cyberworlds are information worlds or communities created on cyberspace by collaborating participants either intentionally or spontaneously. As information worlds, they accumulate information regardless whether or not anyone is in, and they can be with or without 2D or 3D visual graphics appearance. The examples of such cyberworlds are communities created in different social networking services, 3D shared virtual environments, and multiplayer online games. Cyberworlds are closely related to the real world and have a serious impact on it. Cyberworlds have been created and applied in such areas as e-business, e-commerce, e-manufacturing, e-learning, e-medicine, and cultural heritage, etc. Cyberworlds augment and sometimes replace the real life and become a significant component of real economy. The international conferences on Cyberworlds have being organized annually since 2002 with the proceedings published by IEEE Computer Society and special issues published in The Visual Computer and other research journals. 10th in the series, CW2010 will consist of paper sessions, tutorials, industrial seminars, exhibitions and hands-on demonstrations where researchers, artists, and vendors will show the state-of-the-art in the field. Motion plays a crucial role in computer games. Characters move around, objects are manipulated or move due to physical constraints, entities are animated, and the camera moves through the scene. Even the motion of the player nowadays is used as input to games. Motion is currently studied in many different areas of research, including graphics and animation, game technology, robotics, simulation, computer vision, and also physics, psychology, and urban studies. Cross-fertilization between these communities can considerably advance the state-of-the-art in this area. The goal of the Motion in Games conference is to bring together researchers from this variety of fields to present the most recent results and to initiate collaboration. The conference is organized by the Dutch research project GATE. The conference will consist of a regular paper session, as well as presentations by a selection of internationally renowned speakers in the field of games and simulations. Authors are invited to submit a paper of 6-10 pages in the Springer LNCS format. The conference proceedings will be published as a volume in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series (Springer). The ninth annual event unites researchers and practitioners working on all aspects of time-based phenomena. Our focused, intimate gathering, with single track program and emphasis on community interaction, makes SCA the best venue to exchange research results, get inspired, and set up collaborations. Don't miss out! We invite submission of original, high-quality papers on computer animation, broadly defined as computation dealing with time-varying phenomena. Each submission will be refereed by the International Program Committee members on the basis of technical quality, novelty, significance, and clarity. The SCA'10 electronic proceedings will be archived in the EG and ACM digital libraries.
