================================================ ACM/SIGGRAPH conference on Motion, Interaction and Games (MIG) Call for Papers Limassol, Cyprus 8-10 November, 2018 <https://project.inria.fr/mig2018/> https://project.inria.fr/mig2018/ ================================================ The 11th annual ACM/SIGGRAPH conference on Motion, Interaction and Games (MIG 2018, formerly Motion in Games) will take place in Limassol, Cyprus from November 8-10, 2018. MIG is sponsored by ACM and held in cooperation with Eurographics. This year's MIG will feature a half day Machine Learning workshop led by Daniel Holden (Ubisoft), and Jungdam Won (Seoul National University)! Both researchers have used ML to make great contributions to the field of character animation. This workshop is designed to show attendees how they can start to use ML in their own research. Characters move around, objects are manipulated or move due to physical constraints, entities are animated, and the camera moves through the scene. Technological advances in VR and AR have also enabled new ways for users to interact with digital environments. Motion, Interaction, and Games (MIG) is focused on the intersection between these three complimentary research areas. Motion is currently studied in many different areas of research, including graphics and animation, game technology, robotics, simulation, computer vision, and also physics, psychology, and urban studies. Likewise, the challenges of interaction drive research in wide ranging fields from mechanical engineering, to interface design, to perception. Games provide a unique application domain for investigating the intersection of the many facets of motion, interaction, and other areas of graphics. Cross-fertilization between these communities can considerably advance the state-of-the-art in the area. The goal of the Motion, Interaction, and Games conference is to bring together researchers from this variety of fields to present their most recent results, to initiate collaborations, and to contribute to the advancement of the research area. The conference will consist of regular paper sessions as well as presentations by a selection of internationally renowned speakers in all areas related to interactive systems and animation. Each submission should be 7-10 pages in length for the long papers or 4-6 pages for the short papers, and will be reviewed by an international program committee for technical quality, novelty, significance, and clarity. All of the accepted regular papers will be archived in the EG and ACM digital libraries. All submissions will be considered for Best Paper Awards. Best Paper, Best Student Paper, and Best Presentation awards will be conferred during the conference. The top 10% papers will be selected for a special issue in the Computer&Graphics journal (5 year impact factor: 1.089) Accepted papers will be presented at the conference during oral sessions. Best Paper and Best Student Paper awards will be conferred during the conference. We also invite poster submissions for work that has been published elsewhere but is of particular relevance to the MIG community(this work and the venue in which it as published should be identified in the abstract), or work that is of interest to the MIG community but is not yet mature enough to appear as a short or long paper. Posters will not appear in the official MIG proceedings or in the ACM Digital library but will appear in an online database for distribution at author's discretion. ICAT-EGVE 2018 Call For Papers The ICAT-EGVE 2018 conference will be held November 7th – 9th in Limassol, Cyprus. This is the merger of the 28th International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence (ICAT 2018) and the 23rd Eurographics Symposium on Virtual Environments (EGVE 2018). Together these are two of the oldest international conferences in the world on Artificial Reality and Virtual Environments, and provide a unique opportunity for researchers, developers, and users to share their experience and knowledge of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality and 3D User Interfaces. This is a great opportunity to renew old friendships, make new ones, and experience all that Cyprus has to offer. Limassol, a city counting centuries of history, is located between two of the most renowned ancient kingdoms of the island, Amathus at the east and Kourion at the west. “Lemessos” as it is called by locals, is one of the fastest growing modern metropolises in Europe, with the most distinct project being the Limassol Marina. ====================================================== COMPUTER GRAPHICS & VISUAL COMPUTING 2018 (CGVC2018) The 36th Annual Conference organised by the UK chapter of the Eurographics Association, 13-14 September 2018, Swansea University, UK http://www.eguk.org.uk/CGVC2018/ ====================================================== The annual EGUK conference is a meeting place for all those in the UK working in computer graphics and visual computing (including, Computer Graphics and Vision, Information and Scientific Visualization, and Visual Analytics). It attracts researchers from across the country and from further afield. The 2018 conference Computer Graphics & Visual Computing will be an overnight meeting (lunchtime to lunchtime). The conference wants to focus on increasing the dialogue between academic research groups, researchers in academic and in industrial developments. In order to facilitate such dialogue, we are seeking contributions in the form of full papers, short papers, viewpoint papers, and extended abstracts (poster papers). • Full papers - a paper of 4 to 8 pages describing completed research, plus an additional page of references. Papers are refereed by members of an international program committee (IPC). Authors of accepted papers are expected to give a 20 minute presentation at the conference. Accepted papers will appear in the Eurographics digital library and will serve as full paper publications. • Short papers - The purpose of short papers is to present late-breaking results, work-in-progress, and follow-up extensions or evaluations of existing methods. Short papers will be peer-reviewed in a one-stage double-blind process by an international program committee (IPC). They will be electronically archived and are fully citable publications. Submissions for the short paper track should be at most 4 pages, with an additional page allowed for references. Accepted short papers will be presented orally at the conference in (approximately) 15 minute presentations. • Viewpoint Papers (aka. Position paper, ***new in CGVC2018***) - Viewpoint paper track enables researchers a new possibility to publish their ideas. Viewpoints articles offer detailed technical opinions on trends in visual computing or reports on how visual computing has contributed to the comprehension of data or phenomena, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. We encourage discussions of challenges or limitations in today's methods and areas of potential new topics of research. We are also interested in application discussions that focus on, for example, the areas of physical, life or social sciences, engineering, or commerce, or areas related to the process of visual computing in general. We encourage an emphasis on lessons learned from practical experience for application discussions, particularly where visual computing has been employed in a real, working environment. Viewpoint papers are submitted with author names and affiliations (at most 4-pages). Accepted viewpoint papers will be electronically archived, are fully citable publications and will be presented orally at the conference in (approximately) 15 minute presentations. Submissions to the full, short and viewpoint paper tracks that are not accepted for publication but are deemed suitable for poster presentation by the IPC will be offered an opportunity to present in the poster track. • Extended Abstracts (Poster Papers) - CGVC 2018 is re-introducing a poster track. The purpose of this track is to present late-breaking results, work in progress, and follow-up extensions or evaluations of existing methods. In particular, it provides young researchers, especially postgraduate students, with valuable opportunities to receive feedback from other researchers, and engage in stimulating discussions. The poster track will be managed by the co-chair team and the International Program Committee (IPC) for the papers track. We solicit poster submissions in the form of a poster and an accompanying sketch (i.e., an extended abstract of at most 2 pages, with an additional page allowed for references only). Posters will be peer-reviewed in a one-stage double-blind process. Accepted posters will be presented at the poster viewing session of the conference. Accepted extended abstracts (poster papers) do not appear in the Eurographics digital library, and will not be considered as a paper publication, instead being similar to a SIGGRAPH one-page sketch or to a conference poster without an associated full paper. As such, presenting an extended abstract or a poster at the conference has no effect on your ability to publish a fuller version of the same work in another venue.
