== Aims and Scope ==
EG VCBM ( <http://www.vcbm.org/> http://www.vcbm.org/), the Eurographics Workshop on Visual Computing for Biology and Medicine, is an annual event addressing the state of the art in visual computing research with a strong focus on applications in biology and medicine. It provides an interdisciplinary forum for experts (researchers and practitioners) from visualization, visual analytics, computer graphics, image processing, computer vision, human-computer interfaces as well as experts from biology and medicine, jointly working on next-generation visual computing solutions for medicine, healthcare, and the biotechnology sector. This year’s workshop (already the 9th VCBM since its foundation in 2008) will be held during September 4-6, 2019 in Brno, Czech Republic.
We are also pleased that this year we accept the following types of posters:
*) Original, application-oriented research posters that advance the fusion of visual computing methods within medicine and biology, according to the general call that can be found at <http://www.vcbm.org/> http://www.vcbm.org/.
*) Research overview posters summarizing biomedical visualization research on topics below. This is an excellent way to highlight, for example, the research carried out in the scope of a PhD project, to promote PhD direction discussions with experts, or to present activities of a specific research group.
*) Research group overview posters presenting the current research work of an entire group or a research center. The scope of such a poster can also include upcoming funded projects and thus even indicate open vacancies.

*) Visualization approaches for data from new or challenging imaging modalities including real-time imaging (e.g., ultrasound)
*) Visual computing solutions in the context of the virtual physiological human
Methods might include, but are not limited to:
*) Visualization and analysis of all kinds of biomedical data (signals and images)
*) Visualization, mining, and analysis of biomedical data collections, including cohort data
*) Information visualization of medical data sets, e.g., electronic health records
*) Computer models of biomechanical, physiological, and biochemical functions in living systems
*) Fusion, analysis, and visualization of heterogeneous and/or multi-source data
*) Multi-scale methods and data structures for large data
*) Interaction and design of visual computing workflows in medicine and biology

== Information for Authors ==
EG VCBM 2019 continues the poster track to enable researchers to present their work in progress, minor improvements beyond the state-of-the-art, and the best results of the undergraduate student projects in the area of visual computing for biology and medicine. Accepted posters will be placed in the workshop area during the time of the event, and the program will feature a dedicated poster session where the authors have the opportunity to present their research and lead fruitful discussions with peer researchers that will inspire for future research and cooperation.
In addition, accepted papers and posters have, for the first time this year, the opportunity to be presented in a live demo session. This unique opportunity to present the results of current research live to a large audience of experts is intended to promote not only fruitful expert discussions, but also the possibility of new collaborations.
== Submission Instructions ==
The submission to the poster track at EG VCBM consists of a ½ – 1 page abstract (12pt) optionally including pictures. The posters abstracts will be reviewed by the poster conference chairs and the abstracts of the accepted posters will be included in the conference publications. The material from the poster can be re-used for a full paper submission somewhere else and this act is not to be considered as a self-plagiarism. Authors of the accepted posters are expected to bring their poster to the conference, register for the conference participation, and present their work at the poster at the time of the poster session. Please submit your non-anonymized poster abstract submissions including authors names, affiliations, and acknowledgments to posters-vcbm2019(a)eg.org <mailto:posters-vcbm2019@eg.org> .

_____
Smart Tools and Applications in Graphics (STAG) is an annual international
conference organized by the Italian Chapter of the Eurographics association.
For its sixth edition the conference will be held in Cagliari (Italy) on
November 14-15, 2019.
The aim of STAG is the dissemination of research activities and novel ideas
on both theoretical and application oriented aspects of Computer Graphics,
bringing together researchers and practitioners from both national and
international scientific communities to share their latest developments.
This year we invite contributions in the form of full papers or posters, and
we will host, as usual, the EG-Italy thesis award ceremony.
Full Papers
Contributions on new ways to solve real problems, clever solutions to
optimize or otherwise improve techniques and algorithms for real-world
applications are encouraged. System, libraries, and workflow papers with
impact on real-world applications are also welcome. We encourage submissions
in all areas of Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Visual Computing, and
related disciplines.
Full papers might be accepted, rejected, or accepted as posters. From all
accepted full papers, an international jury will assign the best paper
award.
Full papers are included in the STAG proceedings, published in the
Eurographics Digital Library.
Authors of a selection of the most outstanding papers will be invited to
submit an extended version of their work to a Special Issue of the Computers
& Graphics Journal (Elsevier). Upcoming papers of the last edition can be
