Dear Colleagues,
— Please forward this to anyone who might be interested —
— Apologies for cross-posting —
With this email, we would like to inform you about the deadline extension
for submissions to the Computers and Graphics Journal (C&G)
<https://www.journals.elsevier.com/computers-and-graphics> Special Section
on Molecular Graphics and Visual Analytics of Molecular Data. The deadline
was extended till November 20, 2022. However, we will start the review
process immediately after the submission. Therefore if you submit sooner,
you will also receive the notification sooner (i.e., within 4 weeks from
the submission).
All accepted papers will be presented at MolVA 2023 Workshop
<http://tinyurl.com/molva> which will be co-located with EuroVis 2023
<https://www.eurovis.org/> in Leipzig, Germany. Therefore, at least one of
the authors of an accepted paper will have to register and attend the
workshop. For more information, please see our webpage:

The Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona is looking for postdocs to work in a project dealing with the simulation of virtual crowds in outdoor scenes and their impact on hiking paths and terrain degradation, through computer graphics and VR solutions. This project is coordinated by the ViRVIG group http://www.virvig.eu/
The project involves a large range of topics such as: procedural modeling (automatic generation of hiking networks with semantic information and navigation meshes for complex uneven terrain), pathfinding and navigation in such terrains (pathfinding and route selection adapted to agents' abilities, planning of navigation in difficult sections, Reinforcement Learning for individual route selection), analysis of collections of trajectories (real or simulated), and simulation and rendering of anthropogenic degradation effects (trail erosion, litter, and other traces of passage).
More information about the project can be found here:
<https://www.virvig.eu/senda/senda.html>
https://www.virvig.eu/senda/senda.html
We are offering two postdocs positions to work on two main goals: (1) virtual human path finding and (2) modeling of terrain degradation. We are looking for candidates with experience on some of the following topics: reinforcement learning, crowd simulation, path finding, geometric algorithms, procedural modeling, simulation of natural phenomena, virtual reality, and computer graphics.
Candidates should hold a PhD in computer science, physics, mathematics, or some engineering discipline. Candidates should have a track record of publications in computer graphics, virtual reality, and/or animation. The following skills will be valued:
-. Good programming skills in C++, C#, or Python.
-. Computer graphics
-. Experience with Unity and VR is a plus.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Nuria Pelechano (nuria.pelechano(a)upc.edu <mailto:nuria.pelechano@upc.edu> )
