Call for papers
EUROGRAPHICS State-of-the-Art Reports (STARs) provide up-to-date and comprehensive overviews of special topics of current interest in Computer Graphics and related fields. STARs are highly valuable contributions to our community, as witnessed by the high number of citations they typically receive.
We welcome submissions on all topics relevant to EUROGRAPHICS, and particularly encourage STARs on topics that have not been covered in any recent edition. STAR reports on cross-sectional, multi-disciplinary areas are also highly welcomed. A STAR can also address the use of Computer Graphics techniques in a different scientific discipline or in industrial practice. For examples of suitable STAR topics, please refer to the EUROGRAPHICS digital library. A list of recent STARs can be found here (https://sites.google.com/site/drminchen/cgf-info/cgf-stars <https://sites.google.com/site/drminchen/cgf-info/cgf-stars>) and on the websites of recent editions (https://eg2022.univ-reims.fr/pr-stars.html <https://eg2022.univ-reims.fr/pr-stars.html>, https://conferences.eg.org/eg2021/program/stars/ <https://conferences.eg.org/eg2021/program/stars/>).
Accepted STARs will be published in a special issue of Computer Graphics Forum, which appears right before the EUROGRAPHICS conference. The journal status of the proceedings requires a two-stage review process with conditional acceptance after the first round and final acceptance based on the revised submissions. Submissions needing a major revision will be transferred to the standard submission track of Computer Graphics Forum.
At EUROGRAPHICS 2023, the authors of a STAR will be given 90 minutes to present the report at a level that allows non-experts in the particular domain to follow the presentation. We do not impose strict maximum lengths for these submissions. However, it is recommended that papers be up to 20 pages excluding references and the authors’ short bios, to conform to the general recommendation for CGF survey papers.
Electronic submissions of STARs are mandatory and will be conducted using the Submission and Review Management System. Papers must be written in English and prepared according to this year's template, which can be found at theSubmission and Review Management (SRMv2) <https://srmv2.eg.org/COMFy/Conference/EG_2022STARs>system. STARs must be formatted according to the Eurographics Computer Graphics Forum guidelines and submitted as anonymous papers.

SUBMISSION DETAILS
Electronic submission of all papers is mandatory and will be conducted using the <https://srmv2.eg.org/COMFy/Conference/EG_2023> Submission and Review Management (SRMv2). Papers must be written in English, must be anonymized, and must be formatted according to the Eurographics Computer Graphics Forum guidelines. The publication guidelines and LaTeX templates are available on <https://srmv2.eg.org/COMFy/Conference/EG_2023/Instruction> SRMv2. Accepted papers must be presented orally in English at Eurographics 2023. Review of full papers is based on a double-blind reviewing approach, so please be sure to remove all personal data (such as authors, affiliations, etc.) from your submission. References to your own work should be made in the third person to maintain anonymity. Reviewers are asked to keep confidential all materials sent to them for evaluation.
There is no maximum length imposed on papers. However, papers should only be as long as they need to be, but not longer. Reviewers might rank submissions perceived as being either repetitive or unnecessarily long lower than they would score concisely written papers.
Authors of accepted papers will present a very short summary or a teaser during a fast-forward session. This presentation will be around 25 seconds and can be augmented by slides. To ensure a smooth organization, they will be asked to prepare a short video of the slides for this purpose, in two versions: one with the spoken text and one without. Details will be sent to accepted paper authors.
PLAGIARISM
A submission to the Eurographics Full Papers program should describe the original work of the authors. Authors must not use ideas or content originating from others without properly crediting their original sources. Note that such sources are not limited to peer-reviewed publications but also include patents, textbooks, technical reports, theses, unpublished work posted on arXiv, and other posts on the World Wide Web. Failure to comply with this requirement will be considered plagiarism and result in rejection.
PRIOR ART
Authors are expected to cite, discuss differences and novelty, and compare results, if applicable, with respect to relevant existing publications, provided they have been published in a peer-reviewed venue. This also applies to patents, which also undergo a professional reviewing process. But what about technical reports, and other non-peer-reviewed publications, such as technical reports or papers posted on arXiv, which we henceforth refer to as pre-publications? With the rapid progress of search engines and the increased perusal of arXiv papers by the scientific community, asking authors to thoroughly compare their work to these pre-publications imposes an unreasonable burden — a seemingly relevant report that is incomplete in its disclosure or validation might appear online shortly before the deadline. Although peer-reviewed publications are certainly not immune to these shortcomings, they have, at least, been judged sufficiently complete and valid by a group of peers. Consequently, authors are not required to discuss and compare their work with recent prepublications (arXiv, technical reports, theses, etc.), although they must properly cite those that inspired them (see “Plagiarism” above). Nevertheless, we encourage authors to mention all related works they are aware of as good academic practice dictates. Note that with new works posted on arXiv on a daily basis, it is increasingly likely that reviewers might point out similarities between the submitted work and online reports that have been missed by the authors. In this case, authors of conditionally accepted papers should be prepared to cite these pre-publications in their final revision as concurrent work, without the burden of having to detail how their work compares to or differs from these pre-publications. When authors cite previous work that they have authored, the citation should be in the third person to preserve anonymity. There are, however, situations where such prior work should not be cited. This is the case if these prior works correspond to prepublications of the submission (arXiv), with largely similar content. In this case, it must be ensured that no publicity related to the publication is available on the web.
ARXIV POLICY
As authors, putting a submission on a repository like arXiv is allowed, either before submission or during the review cycle. There is no penalty for publishing a submission as a prepublication. However, if there are largely overlapping prepublications of the same authors that are available online at the time of submission (arXiv), earlier or largely similar versions of the submission should not be cited in the submission because this would identify the authors. This is consistent with the submission guidelines at SIGGRAPH and CVPR/ECCV/ICCV. After submission, the authors should try to preserve the anonymity of the submission. Specifically, the following list clarifies what is allowed and what not.
Allowed:
* arXiv postings before and after the submission deadline. Do not state that the submission is under review for Eurographics.
* YouTube video on personal account. Do not show submission id or anything that could relate to as a Eurographics submission. Authors can link the videos from the arXiv page or personal web page.
* Code release on personal code repositories (e.g., github). Authors can link the code repository from the arXiv or personal web page.
* It is ok to list submissions in job applications and in interviews as long as they are not referred to as Eurographics submissions.
* It is ok to present the work in non-public venues in particular job talks as long as they are not referred to as Eurographics submissions.
* It is ok to list submissions on author’s webpages as long as they are not referred to as Eurographics submissions.
* It is ok to publicize the work via authors’ social media as long as they are not referred to as Eurographics submissions.
Not allowed:
* It is not allowed to list submissions on institutional websites irrespective of the presentation form.
* No publicity via university or company PR teams regardless of whether authors or institutions are kept anonymous – this includes any postings or dissemination via institutional or promoted social media accounts.
* No media interviews regardless of mainstream media or tech-focused outlets (small-scale, non-public seminars are allowed).
* Do not post papers or supplementary material on university, company, or other private servers that may identify preprints as Eurographics submissions.
DOUBLE SUBMISSION POLICY
By submitting a manuscript to the Eurographics Full Papers program, authors acknowledge that the technical contributions they claim have not been previously published or accepted for publication in another peer-reviewed venue and that no manuscript substantially similar in content is currently under review. Violations constitute grounds for rejection.
RE-SUBMITTED MATERIAL
For papers that have previously been reviewed by other venues and have been rejected or withdrawn, the authors are encouraged to provide a cover letter to describe the history of the paper (however, this does not imply reviewer continuity). This cover letter can also answer the comments made in the previous reviews, by either listing the changes that were made to comply with them or discussing/rebutting/clarifying some elements if need be. Though not mandatory, this procedure is strongly encouraged. The cover letter has to be submitted through SRM as an ‘Additional Attachment’ (see the last section of the SRM upload form for details).
GRAPHICS REPLICABILITY STAMP INITIATIVE
Authors who are willing to go one step further toward replicability of their contributed algorithm and provide a complete open-source implementation can get additional recognition via submission to the Graphics Replicability Stamp Initiative (see <http://www.replicabilitystamp.org/> http://www.replicabilitystamp.org/). All articles published in the Computer Graphics Forum are eligible to apply for the stamp.
REBUTTAL, NOTIFICATION, PUBLICATION, AND PRIZES
1. The reviews will be made available to the authors on November 21, 2022. During a rebuttal period from November 21 to November 28, 2022, authors will be able to submit a brief document to address any factual errors or clarify any issues raised by reviews.
2. The date for notification of the results of the first round of the review process is December 13, 2022.
3. Revised versions of papers conditionally accepted in the first round must be submitted by January 17, 2023.
4. The final notification of the outcome of the second reviewing round will be made on February 3, 2023.
5. The camera-ready version of accepted papers will be due on February 17, 2023.
6. From all accepted and presented papers, an international jury will select the best papers. The best paper will receive the Günter Enderle Award, including a cash prize of €1,000, presented at Eurographics 2023.

15th Symposium on 3D Object Retrieval 2022 (3DOR'22)
In Cooperation with Eurographics and Elsevier
September 1st-2nd, 2022, Florence, Italy
<https://www.micc.unifi.it/3dor2022/> https://www.micc.unifi.it/3dor2022/
The Symposium short paper submission deadline is July 10th, July 20th 2022
3DOR is the dedicated workshop series for methods, applications and benchmark-based evaluation of 3D object retrieval, classification, and similarity-based object processing. In 2022, the 3DOR will be organized as a Symposium with the ambition to target a larger auditory attracting more submissions and participants. The symposium also includes the 2022 edition of the 3D Shape Retrieval Contest, keynotes, project presentations, and a social and networking event. Short papers will follow a one-stage review process and will appear in the Eurographics Digital Library.
Important Dates: Short Paper Submission for EG Digital Library
20 July 2022: Short paper submission
31 July 2022: Short paper notification
18 August 2022: Short paper final version submission
30 August 2022: Online publication
3D Object Retrieval Workshop Series
Since its inception, the aim of the 3DOR Workshop series is to stimulate researchers to present state-of-the-art work, learn about or discuss topics in the field 3D object retrieval, search and exploration in a multidisciplinary context of expertise such as Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, Cognitive Science and Human-Computer Interaction. 3DOR provides a cross-fertilization that will stimulate discussions on the next steps in this important research area. 3DOR 2022 will be the 15th event in this series and will be organized as a Symposium with the aim to attract a larger audience. Search engines are now the default way in which most people engage with information, as the vast majority of information is born digital. 3D digital content is today pervasive: 3D scanning capabilities in mobile telephones, low-cost 3D scanners, 3D printers, and powerful modelling software have made 3D models appeal to an increasing audience. Repositories of 3D objects are rapidly growing in both number and size. Time-dependent acquisition, animation and simulation give rise to 3D objects as a function of time, yielding 4D objects. Yet, the task of exploring such large 3D/4D object repositories and retrieving the models of interest remains a challenging problem. It is crucial to develop algorithms for content-based searching of 3D object collections; creating compact and accurate descriptors for 3D objects; creating efficient storage structures for databases of 3D objects; investigating theoretical aspects of practical importance, such as the definition of the similarity concept; interfaces for content-based 3D object search; visualization techniques for 3D search results; real time aspects of techniques and algorithms; new challenges such as faceted 3D browsing, social search and navigation of hybrid datasets. The complex yet concrete problems above are drawing increasing attention from the research community, which is becoming more and more varied in terms of disciplines needed to solve various facets of the challenges. The 3DOR Workshop series has been characterized since the beginning by a specific attention to benchmarking with the organization of the session on the 3D Shape Retrieval Contest (SHREC). The general objective of the 3D Shape Retrieval Contest is to evaluate the effectiveness of 3D-shape retrieval methods and algorithms. SHREC 2022 is the 17th edition of the contest. As in previous years, it is organized in conjunction with the Eurographics Symposium on 3D Object Retrieval. Results papers from SHREC tracks will be reviewed in a two stage-review process, like regular full papers (see below). A separate call for participation in SHREC will be issued shortly.

Full, Short & Survey Papers
Aims and Scope
EG VCBM<http://vcbm.org>, the Eurographics Workshop on Visual Computing for Biology and Medicine, is an annual event addressing the state of the art in visual computing research with a strong focus on applications in biology and medicine. It provides an interdisciplinary forum for experts (researchers and practitioners) from visualization, visual analytics, computer graphics, image processing, computer vision, human computer interaction, as well as experts from biology and medicine, jointly working on next generation visual computing solutions for medicine, healthcare and the biotechnology sector.
This year's workshop (already the 12th VCBM since its foundation in 2008) will be held from September 22 to September 23, 2022, in Vienna, Austria. We currently hope to have an on-site event at which people can meet in person in Vienna.
EG VCBM solicits the submission of original, application-oriented research papers that advance the fusion of visual computing methods within medicine and biology. All papers (full papers as well as short papers) should focus on a well-defined biological/medical problem, and demonstrate a significant innovation or improvement in visual computing.
Suggested topics for full and short papers include, but are not limited to:
* Visual computing solutions for medical applications like radiology, surgery, pathology, cardiology, nephrology, neurology, etc., including medical education.
* Visual computing solutions for applications that support biomedical research in systems biology, *omics research, molecular pathology, neuroanatomy, biomedical imaging, etc.
* The use of virtual reality and augmented reality in biomedical applications (e.g., for surgical procedures, molecular visualization, rehabilitation and therapy).
* Visualization approaches for data from new or challenging imaging modalities (e.g., real-time ultrasound, CyTOF, Spectroscopy, layer fMRI).
* Visual computing solutions in the context of the virtual physiological human.
* Visual computing solutions that support new approaches for modeling and simulation in computational medicine and biology.
* Visual analytics for big data (e.g, from behavioral biology or epidemiology) or for explainable artificial intelligence (AI) for biology and medicine.
* Visualization techniques and applications addressing biological data on all scales (e.g., sequence and structure data, multivariate/spatial omics data, phylogenetic data, biological networks and pathways, or biological ontologies).
* Solutions for the modeling and simulation of biological systems.
* Biological/medical workflows or processes for the interdisciplinary collaboration between biology/medicine and visualization.
In addition to that, we solicit:
* Survey papers on visual computing in biology and medicine.
Information for Authors
In addition to full-length papers, there will again be a short papers track and a survey track, encouraging scientific contributions from an even more diverse group of researchers and practitioners. All VCBM 2022 papers (full, short, and surveys) will be peer-reviewed and will appear in the Eurographics Digital Library.
We encourage the use of digital videos to support all submissions, particularly if part of, or all of the work covers interactive techniques. Please use only the most common video codecs such as MP4 H.264 to maximize the chances that the reviewers can view it.
* Full Papers: We do not impose strict maximum lengths for submitted papers to the full papers track. However, it is unusual for papers to exceed 10 pages (in CGF LaTeX style<https://conferences.eg.org/vcbm2022/wp-content/uploads/sites/18/2022/05/egP…> including all images and references). Papers should only be as long as their content would justify. Reviewers might rate a submission lower if it is perceived as being unnecessarily long or might recommend it for a short paper, instead. Authors are encouraged to use supplementary material, such as videos or executable programs to provide extra content. The authors of the best papers (usually the best three papers) are invited to submit an extended version of their work to Computer Graphics Forum (CGF), provided that their work fits into the scope of CGF.
* Short Papers: Short papers describe a more focused and concise research contribution and are likely to have a smaller - yet significant - scope of contribution. Potential examples include the presentation of initial results from novel ongoing research projects or the exploration of new application areas. Short papers draw from the same list of topics as full papers. Their length is limited to a total of 5 pages (in CGF LaTeX style<https://conferences.eg.org/vcbm2022/wp-content/uploads/sites/18/2022/05/egP…> including all images and references).
* Surveys: We do not impose strict maximum lengths for submitted papers to the survey track. However, it is unusual for surveys to exceed 20 pages (in CGF LaTeX style<https://conferences.eg.org/vcbm2022/wp-content/uploads/sites/18/2022/05/egP…> including all images and references). Authors are encouraged to use supplementary material, such as videos, to provide extra content.
VCBM 2022 will also feature a poster<https://conferences.eg.org/vcbm2022/posters/> and an image contest program, the details of which will be announced in a separate call.
Submission Instructions
Papers can be submitted using the Eurographics SRM conference management system<https://srmv2.eg.org/COMFy/Conference/VCBM_2022>.

Call for Papers
We welcome contributions in the form of full papers, short papers,
viewpoint papers and extended abstracts (posters). Submissions are
optionally single- or double-blind: authors may choose whether to anonymize
their submission or not. Reviewers’ identities are not revealed.
Full Papers
A full paper submission is upto 8 pages describing completed research, plus
1 page of references only. Papers are refereed by members of the EGUK
programme committee. Authors of accepted papers are expected to give a
20-minute presentation at the conference. Accepted papers will appear in
the Eurographics digital library and will serve as full paper publications.
Short Papers
The purpose of short papers is to present late-breaking results,
work-in-progress, and follow-up extensions or evaluations of existing
methods. Short papers will be peer-reviewed in a one-stage process by an
international programme committee. They will be electronically archived and
are fully citable publications. Submissions for the short paper track
should be at most 4 pages, with an additional page allowed for references.
Accepted short papers will be presented orally at the conference in
(approximately) 12-15 minute presentations.
Viewpoint Papers
CGVC also features a viewpoint paper track (also known as position paper)
which enables researchers a new possibility to publish their ideas.
Viewpoints articles offer detailed technical opinions on trends in visual
computing or reports on how visual computing has contributed to the
comprehension of data or phenomena. We encourage discussions of challenges
or limitations in today's methods and areas of potential new research
topics. We are also interested in application discussions that focus on the
physical, life or social sciences, engineering, or commerce, for example,
or related to the process of visual computing in general. We encourage an
emphasis on lessons learned from practical experience for application
discussions, particularly where visual computing has been employed in a
real, working environment. Viewpoint papers are submitted with author names
and affiliations. Accepted viewpoint papers will be electronically
archived, are fully citable publications and will be presented orally at
the conference in (approximately) 12-15 minute presentations.
Extended Abstracts / Posters
The purpose of this track is to present late-breaking results, work in
progress, and follow-up extensions or evaluations of existing methods. In
particular, it provides young researchers, especially postgraduate
students, with valuable opportunities to receive feedback from other
researchers, and engage in stimulating discussions. The poster track will
be managed by the co-chair team and the International Programme Committee
(IPC). We solicit poster submissions in the form of an extended abstract of
at most 2 pages (with an additional page allowed for references only).
Posters will be peer-reviewed in a one-stage process. Accepted posters will
be presented at the poster viewing session of the conference.
In addition to directly submitted posters, some submissions to the full,
short and viewpoint paper tracks, that are not accepted for publication but
are deemed suitable, will be offered an opportunity to be presented as
posters. Such submissions will not require an additional review process.
Traditionally, the materials in a poster/extended abstract can be reused
later by the original authors for a more extensive publication (i.e., a
full paper) with more detailed content and mature results. This should not
be considered as self-plagiarism. However, as posters/extended abstracts
are citable, researchers are encouraged to acknowledge novel ideas and
results presented in posters/extended abstracts. A poster may describe a
piece of work in any aspect of visual computing. For posters, we
particularly encourage a summary report of collaborative projects,
work-in-progress, and application case studies.
Accepted abstracts do not appear in the Eurographics digital library. An
extended abstract and industrial project abstract are not considered as a
paper publication, instead being similar to a SIGGRAPH one-page "Talk" or
to a conference poster without an associated paper. As such, presenting an
extended abstract at this conference has no effect on your ability to
publish a fuller version of the same work in another venue.

VCBM+BioVis 2022 Call for papers
<http://vcbm.org/> EG VCBM, the Eurographics Workshop on Visual Computing for Biology and Medicine, is an annual event addressing the state of the art in visual computing research with a strong focus on applications in biology and medicine.
This year’s workshop (already the 12th VCBM since its foundation in 2008) will be held from September 22 to September 23, 2022, in Vienna, Austria.
* Medical simulation and visual computing solutions that support new approaches in computational medicine.
* Visual analytics for big data (e.g, from behavioral biology or epidemiology) or for explainable artificial intelligence (AI) for biology and medicine.
However, it is unusual for papers to exceed 10 pages (in <https://conferences.eg.org/vcbm2022/wp-content/uploads/sites/18/2022/05/egP…> CGF LaTeX style including all images and references).
* Short Papers: Short papers describe a more focused and concise research contribution and are likely to have a smaller – yet significant – scope of contribution. Potential examples include the presentation of initial results from novel ongoing research projects or the exploration of new application areas. Short papers draw from the same list of topics as full papers. Their length is limited to a total of 5 pages (in <https://conferences.eg.org/vcbm2022/wp-content/uploads/sites/18/2022/05/egP…> CGF LaTeX style including all images and references).
* Surveys: We do not impose strict maximum lengths for submitted papers to the survey track. However, it is unusual for surveys to exceed 20 pages (in <https://conferences.eg.org/vcbm2022/wp-content/uploads/sites/18/2022/05/egP…> CGF LaTeX style including all images and references). Authors are encouraged to use supplementary material, such as videos, to provide extra content.
VCBM 2022 will also feature a <https://conferences.eg.org/vcbm2022/posters/> poster and an image contest program, the details of which will be announced in a separate call.
