Do you remember the days when retrieving the data that you needed from the
internet was a matter of visiting sites your friends knew? The days when you
would try out alternative search engines to find a single result? Was it a
coincidence that text retrieval engines flourished with the explosion of
textual information on the internet that could not be manually explored?
A new wave of information is now underway. Low-cost 3D scanners and 3D
printers combined with popular applications of Computer Graphics and Vision
are making 3D object models appeal to an increasing audience. See for

As these 3D object collections are growing, the importance of effective
retrieval, search and exploration is increasing. Because it is easier to
find something than to create it from scratch and because manual browsing
quickly becomes intractable as a collection grows.
To this effect it is crucial to develop algorithms for the content-based
searching of 3D object collections; creating compact and accurate
descriptors for 3D objects; indexing 3D objects; creating efficient storage
structures for data bases of 3D objects; investigating theoretical aspects
of practical importance such as what it means for two shapes to be similar;
interfaces for content-based 3D object search; visualization techniques for
3D search results; real time aspects of techniques and algorithms. Many
fields of Computer Science and beyond can offer their valuable knowledge to
this complex but highly interesting and practical problem.
The aim of the 3DOR Workshop series is to stimulate researchers from
different fields such as Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Machine
Learning, Cognitive Science and Human-Computer Interaction who work on or
are interested in 3D object retrieval search and exploration, to present
state-of-the-art work in the field or learn about it and participate in
discussions. This will provide a cross-fertilization that will stimulate
discussions on the next steps in this important research area. 3DOR 2015will
be the 8th workshop in this series.
3DOR 2015 will be a 2-day event for the first time and will contain the
following tracks: research papers, posters, 2 keynote speeches (NEW!), EU
project presentations and networking (NEW!), industrial session (NEW!).
Call for Papers, Posters and System Demonstrations
Authors are invited to submit original and unpublished research and
application papers addressing all areas of 3D Object Retrieval. Submissions
are invited in the form of full papers (up to 8 pages) and short papers
presented in a poster session (up to 4 pages).

The expressive use of virtual cameras, mise-en-scene, lighting and editing
(montage) within 3D synthetic environment shows great promise to extend the
communicative power of film and video into the artificial environments of
games and virtual worlds.
Cinematics produced in virtual worlds play a role not just for
entertainment, but also for training, education, health-care communication,
simulation, visualization and many other contexts. The automatic creation of
cinematics in these environments holds the potential to produce video
sequences appropriate for the wide range of applications and tailored to
specific spatial, temporal, communicative, user and application contexts.
At the same time, recent advances in computer vision-based object, actor and
action recognition make it possible to envision novel re-cinematography
(re-lighting, re-framing) and automatic editing of live-action video. This
third workshop on intelligent cinematography and editing is intended to
bridge the gap between the two areas and confront research being performed
in both domains. One common area of active research is the representation
and understanding of the story to be told and its relation to teaching,
training or therapeutic goals.
The workshop is open to researchers and industrial experts working on the
many related aspects of digital cinematography and film editing in their
respective fields, including 3D graphics, artificial intelligence, computer
vision, visualisation, interactive narrative, cognitive and perceptual
psychology, computational linguistics, computational aesthetics and visual
effects.
These researchers will draw upon cutting edge research and technologies
regarding both the production and comprehension of cinematographic artworks
in virtual worlds and the real world.

Submission
Researchers should submit one of:
. 8 page paper reporting new work or new ideas in a relevant research area.
. 1 page abstract describing emergent work or a vision of the near term
future of intelligent cinematography.
Submissions will be reviewed by the program committee; review criteria will
intentionally be inclusive rather than competitive, to encourage work in
progress and a broader participation in a nascent community of researchers.
Reviews will include feedback for authors regardless of decision for
acceptance or rejection. All the selected papers (excluding statements of
interest) will be published in the workshop's working notes.
Proceedings of the workshop will be published by EG Publishing provided in
the EG Digital Library.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Eurographics Symposium on Rendering 2015 will take place in Darmstadt,
Germany, from June 24 to June 26, 2015. This 26th event continues the series
of highly successful Eurographics Symposia and Workshops on rendering.
This year brings some changes to the submission process: the introduction of
a second "Experimental Ideas & Implementations" track in addition to the
traditional EGSR papers track (the "CGF track"). Authors have the choice of
submitting their work to either the CGF track, the experimental track, or
both.
The CGF submission track will remain as is, and continue the long tradition
of disseminating state-of-the-art academic results in rendering and related
fields. The papers in this track will be, as before, published as an issue
of Computer Graphics Forum after a full peer review, including a rebuttal
and a 2nd review cycle.
In addition, EGSR 2015 introduces a new "Experimental Ideas &
Implementations" conference papers track. Its explicit goal is to solicit
submissions that describe either exciting ideas that are not (yet) validated
according to the high academic standard of the CGF track, or interesting
implementation details for known algorithms in industry-scale uses. In
particular, requirements on comparisons to related work, citations, and
quality of results are relaxed in exchange for the key questions: is the
idea stimulating and interesting? Would it spark discussion and give
valuable insights to the rendering community? Papers in this track will
undergo full double-blind peer review using its own review form, and be
published in the EGSR conference proceedings series, but not the CGF
journal. There is no rebuttal or 2nd review cycle. As per common practice,
the authors have the possibility to build on top of the conference paper,
add comparisons and validation, and submit the work to a journal later.

For both tracks, we are looking for work that shapes the future of rendering
and related fields. In particular, we encourage submission in the related
topics of appearance modeling, computational displays, fabrication, and
hardware architectures.
Neither papers track has a fixed maximum limit on the number of pages.
However, submissions over 12 pages in length will be treated as exceptional
cases, and length must always be in proportion to contribution.

Q: What's the process with the extended journal version?
A: Once you have a paper accepted in the new track and published in the
conference proceedings, many journals, CGF included, apply the rule by which
adding 30% new material and addressing any major issues that preclude
journal publication qualifies the revised paper for consideration in the
journal. The authors should indicate the nature of the submission in a cover
letter.
In addition, the EGSR papers committee and CGF editors may, at their
discretion, invite select papers from the Experimental Ideas &
Implementations track to a fast-track second review cycle in Computer
Graphics Forum.
Q: Why would I submit to both tracks?
A: Should the committee decide your paper is not, in the form it was
submitted, suitable for the CGF track, it then has the option of accepting
it to the Experimental Ideas & Implementations track. You, the author, get a
paper, valuable feedback, visibility for your ideas, and the possibility of
later extending your work into a journal paper.
However, if you feel your contribution clearly falls within the scope of the
Experimental Ideas & Implementations track but not the CGF track, please
only submit to the the former. This makes the job of the reviewers and the
committee easier, which is of particular importance because the review
schedule is tight.
Q: What if my paper includes interesting system and implementation details
but less algorithmic or mathematical novelty?
A: We would love to consider your work for the Experimental Ideas &
Implementations track!
Q: What if I have an intriguing idea but I have no idea if it works or not,
or it only works in a certain special case?

Parallel Graphics and Visualization. The event will take place
on May 25 - 26 in Cagliari, island of Sardinia, Italy.

The importance of parallel computing is increasing rapidly with the
ubiquitous availability of multi-core CPUs, GPUs, and cluster systems.
Computationally demanding and data-intensive applications in graphics
and visualization are strongly affected by this trend and require novel
efficient parallel solutions. The aim of this symposium is to foster the
exchange of experiences and knowledge exploiting and defining new trends
in parallel graphics and visualization.
The proceedings of the EGPGV Symposium will be published in the
Eurographics Proceedings Series and in the Eurographics Digital Library.
Focusing on parallel computing, the symposium seeks papers on graphics
and visualization techniques, data structures, algorithms, and systems for:

The best paper will be invited to submit an extended version to IEEE
Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (TVCG).
Scientific Visualization Showcase
This year we present a new track for EGPGV 2015, which provides a forum
for the year's most instrumental movies in parallel graphics and
visualization. Finalists will compete for the Best Visualization Award,
and each finalist will present his or her movie during a dedicated
session at EGPGV '15 in a 10-minute presentation. Movies are judged
based on how their movie illuminates science, by the quality of the
movie, and for innovations in the process used for creating the movie.
The accepted submissions will appear as short papers in the symposium
proceedings.
Review and selection process:
Submission should include "Visualization Showcase:" at the beginning of
the paper title. Submissions needed to include a movie (up to 150MB in
size) and a short paper (up to 4 pages including references). The short
paper should describe the scientific story conveyed by the movie, how
the visualization helps scientific discovery, and the
"state-of-the-practice" information behind making the movie. The short

We welcome submissions to EuroVA 2015, taking place in Cagliari, Sardinia

EuroVA 2015 ( <http://eurova.org/> www.eurova.org) is the sixth
international Eurovis workshop on visual analytics held in Europe and
continues the successes of the previous editions, held in Bordeaux, Bergen,
Vienna, Leipzig and Swansea.
Visual Analytics is the science of analytical reasoning supported by
interactive visual techniques, which requires interdisciplinary science
integrating techniques from visualization and computer graphics, statistics
and mathematics, data management and knowledge representation, data analysis
and machine learning, cognitive and perceptual sciences, and more.
The workshop will accept a range of paper types, including technique,
system, application, evaluation and theory papers in the area of Visual
Analytics. One of our goals this year is to promote and advance the
combination and integration of visualization and analytics methods for the
purpose of problem solving in a variety of application domains including
engineering, business, public policy, biology and medicine, security, etc.
Henceforth we are arranging a special issue on "Visual Analytic
Applications", planned for publication in Information Visualization, Sage.
Selected best papers of this workshop will be invited to submit a longer
version of their work to this forthcoming special issue.
EuroVA will be held on May 25-26, 2015 in Cagliari Sardinia, as a workshop

DigitalHeritage is the international event for those working on information
technology for heritage. A "federated" world congress of the leading
international societies, organizations, and events around IT for heritage,
DigitalHeritage 2015 will bring together for the second time, VSMM,
Eurographics GCH, Arqueológica 2.0, Archaeovirtual, and special events from
CAA, CIPA, Space2Place, ICOMOS ICIP, and more, all in one venue with a
prestigious joint publication. A groundbreaking public display of cutting
edge digital heritage projects will also grace the conference venue at
Granada's Alhambra and Parque de las Ciencias.Following the successful
format of the first DigitalHeritage in 2013, the conference will have a
single call for papers and a coordinated scientific review process across
all the federating events.
We are seeking original, innovative and previously unpublished contributions
in theoretical or applied Digital Heritage areas. All papers will be
double-blind peer-reviewed by at minimum 3 referees from the International
Scientific Committee. Every submission will have at least one technical and
one cultural reviewer to ensure a rich diversity of accepted works spanning
both technology and the humanities. All submissions will be reviewed for
originality, significance, clarity, impact, and soundness. Digital Heritage
2015 is composed of a number of parallel tracks, including full and short
papers, special sessions (tutorials, workshops and panels), exhibitions, and
special events.
SUBMISSIONS

Since this is a joint World Congress, you need to submit only once to be
considered for the integrated joint proceedings of all affiliated events. We
remind that we will have a single review process and publication.
Each submission shall indicate the specific Digital Heritage 2015 Theme (see
below) that is more relevant.
You may submit to participate in DigitalHeritage in one of several ways:

FULL AND SHORT PAPERS

Submitted manuscripts should not exceed 8 pages for long papers (including
figures, tables and references) and 4 pages for short paper presentations.
Authors should select a single scientific Theme for each submission.
The two best papers on each theme will be invited to submit an extended
version of the paper to a an International Journal including:

As the conference adopts a double-blind reviewing process, authors must
ensure that any information that links authors or co-authors, e.g.
affiliations, contact details, e-mails, to the paper are removed on the
paper for the first submission step. Registration details on easyChair
should remain at place.Full and Short papers must be formatted in IEEE
double column, single space format, A4 page. The word style or the LaTeX
template can be downloaded from the IEEE site.
SPECIAL SESSIONS
----------------
Special Sessions will include: Tutorials, Workshops and Panels
For a Special Session proposal to be considered for acceptance at Digital
Heritage 2015, the proposed topic needs to be a presentation of teaching
objectives (tutorials), contributions to the state-of-the-art, new
initiatives or an emerging area in one of the core themes of the conference.
The topic should be timely and significantly important to the audience, and
the speakers need to convey compelling information about it.
Tutorials should be planned as half-day or full-day, at introductory,
intermediate or advanced levels, and could cover any theme among the entire
spectrum of topics of the Conference. They could focus vertically on
technology, or could demonstrate its potential for creative applications.
Tutorials are intended to show what can be done, but even more importantly,
how this is done and what kind of tools can be used to do it. While
proposing a tutorial, authors should consider that tutorial attendees come
from diverse backgrounds, ranging from research and development to
education, curatorship and applications.
Proposals for Workshops and Panels will be judged by the ability to bring
together key researchers from the CH as well as ICT domains, aiming at
introducing a new area to the overall community, to further develop it, and
to help establishing a larger research community beyond that area. Special
session proposals covering multi-disciplinary areas are particularly
encouraged, as well as those proposals regarding common challenges, e.g.
(and not restricted to) Methods in Archaeology, Museums and Technology, etc.
Special Session submissions (up to 4 A4-pages) should contain the following
information:
- A title and brief description of the content or topic and its relevance to
the DH community (not more than 1,500 words);
- Full contact information for all tutorial instructors or workshop leaders,
including a one-paragraph statement of their research interests and areas of
expertise;
- A short CV for each presenter, participant or authors who have agreed to
participate with their results to the session
- A description of target audience and expected number of participants
(based, if possible, on past experience);
- Any special requirements for technical support.Additionally, Tutorial
proposals should include:
- A brief outline showing that the core content can be covered in a half day
(approximately 3 hours, plus breaks).
In exceptional cases, full-day tutorials may be supported as well.
Workshop proposals must include:
- The intended length and format of the workshop and the forecasted number
of attendees;
- A proposed budget (as DH workshops are expected to be self-financing).

The community is invited to submit proposals for installations,
applications, digital artworks, or technical demos to build up the Digital
Heritage Expo at DH2015. During this important international event,
dedicated spaces for Virtual Archaeology, Virtual Museums and Digital Art
will provide an additional forum to showcase project results and present
applications. Spaces will be provided by the Science Museum and will be
accessible and open not only to the conference participants but to also to
the public. Best showcases and projects will be selected by the scientific
committee, and will be assigned space and visibility within the exhibition
area. Applications and artworks must be finished and submitted by the
deadlines defined in this call. Submissions should not exceed 4 A4-pages
(including images, references, etc.) addressing the scope of the exhibition
themes and highlight innovation (cultural/technological), impact (cognitive,
artistic, communicative), novelty of the approach, and typology of the
installation/application, of the contents and of the interactive system.
Submissions might be complemented by supplementary visual material.
VISUAL MATERIAL
===============
Paper submissions, Applications, Exhibitions & Showcases are encouraged to
submit visual materials, promotional videos or multimedia presentations that
demonstrate and describe the results of the scientific work, project, or
exhibitor showcase. Visual Materials will be required by the scientific
committee for the selection of the best working results to be awarded. A
dedicated upload area will be provided for final paper submission.
SUBMISSION REGULATIONS
======================
Submissions will be administratively rejected without review if it is found
that:
1. The submission violates the IEEE & EG Policy and Procedures on
Plagiarism.
2. The submission is a dual submission; that is, if the submission is
simultaneously under review for any other conference or publication.
3. Electronic files have been submitted that have been designed to have side
effects other than presenting the submitted work to reviewers and committee
members (for example, a "phone home" script).
4. It appears that the paper contains material for which the submitters have
not secured the necessary copyrights.

Computer Graphics International is one of the oldest and true international
conference in Computer Graphics and one of the five most important ones
worldwide. It is an essential yearly meeting where academics present their
latest models and technologies, and explore new trends and ideas. In
previous years, it had been held in many different places worldwide - UK,
Germany, Australia, and many other nations in Europe, Asia, and America.
Computer Graphics International (CGI) 2015, the 32nd annual conference will
take place on June 24-26, 2015 in Strasbourg, France. The city of
Strasbourg is located in the center of Europe, at the crossroads of France,
Germany and Switzerland. The conference will be organized by the Computer
Graphics and Geometry Group of ICube Laboratory (CNRS/Université de

Do you remember the days when retrieving the data that you needed from the
internet was a matter of visiting sites your friends knew? The days when you
would try out alternative search engines to find a single result? Was it a
coincidence that text retrieval engines flourished with the explosion of
textual information on the internet that could not be manually explored?
A new wave of information is now underway. Low-cost 3D scanners and 3D
printers combined with popular applications of Computer Graphics and Vision
are making 3D object models appeal to an increasing audience. See for

As these 3D object collections are growing, the importance of effective
retrieval, search and exploration is increasing. Because it is easier to
find something than to create it from scratch and because manual browsing
quickly becomes intractable as a collection grows.
To this effect it is crucial to develop algorithms for the content-based
searching of 3D object collections; creating compact and accurate
descriptors for 3D objects; indexing 3D objects; creating efficient storage
structures for data bases of 3D objects; investigating theoretical aspects
of practical importance such as what it means for two shapes to be similar;
interfaces for content-based 3D object search; visualization techniques for
3D search results; real time aspects of techniques and algorithms. Many
fields of Computer Science and beyond can offer their valuable knowledge to
this complex but highly interesting and practical problem.
The aim of the 3DOR Workshop series is to stimulate researchers from
different fields such as Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Machine
Learning, Cognitive Science and Human-Computer Interaction who work on or
are interested in 3D object retrieval search and exploration, to present
state-of-the-art work in the field or learn about it and participate in
discussions. This will provide a cross-fertilization that will stimulate
discussions on the next steps in this important research area. 3DOR 2015will
be the 8th workshop in this series.
3DOR 2015 will be a 2-day event for the first time and will contain the
following tracks: research papers, posters, 2 keynote speeches (NEW!), EU
project presentations and networking (NEW!), industrial session (NEW!).

Welcome to the 15th EGPGV, the Eurographics Symposium on
Parallel Graphics and Visualization. The event will take place
on May 25 - 26 in Cagliari, island of Sardinia, Italy.
The Symposium will be held in conjunction with EuroVis 2015.

The importance of parallel computing is increasing rapidly with the
ubiquitous availability of multi-core CPUs, GPUs, and cluster systems.
Computationally demanding and data-intensive applications in graphics
and visualization are strongly affected by this trend and require novel
efficient parallel solutions. The aim of this symposium is to foster the
exchange of experiences and knowledge exploiting and defining new trends
in parallel graphics and visualization.
The proceedings of the EGPGV Symposium will be published in the
Eurographics Proceedings Series and in the Eurographics Digital Library.
Focusing on parallel computing, the symposium seeks papers on graphics
and visualization techniques, data structures, algorithms, and systems for:
* large-data
* clusters
* (multi-)GPU computing, and heterogeneous, hybrid architectures
* out-of-core
* hybrid distributed and shared memory architectures
* grid and cloud environments
In particular the symposium topics include:
* computationally and data intensive rendering
* scientific visualization (volume rendering, flow and tensor
visualization)
* information visualization and visual analytics
* simulations for virtual environments (physics-based animation,
collision detection, acoustic)
* mesh processing, level-of-detail, and geometric methods
* visual computing (image- and video-based rendering, image processing
and exploitation, segmentation)
* scheduling, memory management and data coherence
* large and high resolution displays, virtual environments
* scientific, engineering, and industrial applications
Full papers are expected to be eight to ten (8-10) pages in length, with
the final length appropriate to the contribution of the paper. Papers

Scientific Visualization Showcase
This year we present a new track for EGPGV 2015, which provides a forum
for the year's most instrumental movies in parallel graphics and
visualization. Finalists will compete for the Best Visualization Award,
and each finalist will present his or her movie during a dedicated
session at EGPGV '15 in a 10-minute presentation. Movies are judged
based on how their movie illuminates science, by the quality of the
movie, and for innovations in the process used for creating the movie.
The accepted submissions will appear as short papers in the symposium
proceedings.
Review and selection process:
Submission should include "Visualization Showcase:" at the beginning of
the paper title. Submissions needed to include a movie (up to 150MB in
size) and a short paper (up to 4 pages including references). The short
paper should describe the scientific story conveyed by the movie, how
the visualization helps scientific discovery, and the
"state-of-the-practice" information behind making the movie. The short

Call for Posters
Authors are invited to submit proposals for poster presentations of recent
results, work in progress, new ideas and other smaller projects which may be
of interest to the general community but which are still too speculative,
incomplete or not of sufficient extent to warrant a full paper.
Accepted posters will be included in the digital media. Posters will also be
displayed during the conference and will form the focus of a posters session
to be run in conjunction with one of the social events. We encourage
submissions from all areas related to computer graphics, such as rendering,
modeling, visualization, animation, simulation, virtual reality, computer
vision, and imaging.
Authors of accepted posters will be expected to be present at their posters
during the posters session to discuss their work and answer questions.

community in Central Europe. The SCCG attempts to cover all interesting
projects from computer graphics, image processing and applications. The
philosophy of SCCG is to put together top experts with young researchers in
CG and to support a good communication channel for East-West exchange of

DIRK BARTZ PRIZE FOR VISUAL COMPUTING IN MEDICINE 2015

The deadline for this year's EG Medical Prize has been extended. Take the
chance to receive a high-end NVIDIA graphics card, the price money and a
free registration for Eurographics 2015 by submitting four pages summarizing
your contribution.
The Eurographics Association organizes a biannual competition to acknowledge
the contribution that computer graphics is playing in the medical field, and
to encourage further development. Originally called "Eurographics Medical
Prize, the competition was renamed to "Dirk Bartz Prize for Visual
Computing in Medicine" in 2010 -- in honor of Dirk Bartz who passed away far
too early in March 2010. Dirk Bartz was a highly recognized and enthusiastic
scientist, teacher and promoter of Visual Computing in Medicine;
furthermore, he was an active member of the Eurographics Association and
Chair of the EG Medical Prize 2007 and 2009.
CALL
Submissions for the Dirk Bartz Prize for Visual Computing in Medicine 2015
are being invited from researchers and developers who can demonstrate that a
particular benefit has resulted from the use of computer graphics technology
in a medical application that they have produced. Examples of entries could
include the use of new data visualization techniques, interaction methods,
or virtual/augmented environments. Further information is available at

WINNERS
The top three winning entries of the Dirk Bartz Prize for Visual Computing
in Medicine 2015 will receive a prize and their submission will be published
in the "Short Papers and Medical Prize Awards" digital media proceedings of
Eurographics 2015. The judging panel will select the winning entry on the
basis of its clinical value, the use made of computer graphics, and its
novelty. All three winning teams will have an opportunity to briefly present
their results at Eurographics 2015, which means that at least one author of
each winning team must attend to present the results.

we are seeking original contributions for presentation and publication in
the EG 2015 education track. The scope of the track includes topics in
education in computer graphics, computer graphics in education, effective
teaching tips and techniques focussing on computer graphics course content,
and outstanding student projects in computer graphics.
Authors are invited to submit papers, panels and student projects.
Education papers should give new insights or experience that improve student
learning and that instructors can take into the classroom.
Proposals for panels should state the problem to be discussed and include a
short statement from proposed panelists. Notes on teaching tips and
techniques should describe proven ways to engage student interest or present
difficult topics. Notes on outstanding student projects should describe the
learning context for the project and show how the student brought individual
creativity to the work.
We invite submissions related to the following topics:
- teaching computer graphics in various curricula including
computer science, engineering, and arts
- designing curricula for computer graphics and related disciplines
including image processing, animation and games
- promoting undergraduate research in computer graphics
- creating educational programs combining computer graphics

We invite you to participate in the IEEE Symposium on 3D User Interfaces
2015 ( <http://www.3dui.org> http://www.3dui.org) by submitting a poster.
Posters provide an informal but interactive forum in which authors can
present their work to symposium attendees during the poster session and
during conference breaks. They describe works-in-progress, novel ideas,
novel systems, or present the latest implemented applications. Posters are a
great way to let others in the 3DUI community know about your work as well
as an opportunity to discuss and make potential collaborations!
Poster submissions should be within the scope of three-dimensional user
interfaces.
We would also like to introduce a subtle shift in focus for 3D UI research.
Given that this is the 10th annual 3DUI Symposium, and that significant
progress has been mode over the years to address the "classic five"
low-level interaction tasks of Selection, Manipulation, Navigation, Symbolic
Input, and System Control, we strongly encourage posters that attempt to
address higher-level tasks that draw on three or more of the lower-level
tasks.

The expressive use of virtual cameras, mise-en-scene, lighting and editing
(montage) within 3D synthetic environment shows great promise to extend the
communicative power of film and video into the artificial environments of
games and virtual worlds.
Cinematics produced in virtual worlds play a role not just for
entertainment, but also for training, education, health-care communication,
simulation, visualization and many other contexts. The automatic creation of
cinematics in these environments holds the potential to produce video
sequences appropriate for a wide range of applications and tailored to
specific spatial, temporal, communicative, user and application contexts.
At the same time, recent advances in computer vision-based object, actor and
action recognition make it possible to envision novel re-cinematography
(re-lighting, re-framing) and automatic editing of live-action video. This
fourth workshop on intelligent cinematography and editing is intended to
bridge the gap between the two areas and confront research being performed
in both domains. One common area of active research is the representation
and understanding of the story to be told and its relation to teaching,
training or therapeutic goals.
The workshop is open to researchers and industrial experts working on the
many related aspects of digital cinematography and film editing in their
respective fields, including 3D graphics, artificial intelligence, computer
vision, visualisation, interactive narrative, cognitive and perceptual
psychology, computational linguistics, computational aesthetics and visual
effects.
These researchers will draw upon cutting edge research and technologies
regarding both the production and comprehension of cinematographic artworks
in virtual worlds and the real world.

Submission
Researchers should submit one of:
. 8 page paper reporting new work or new ideas in a relevant research area.
. 1 page abstract describing emergent work or a vision of the near term
future of intelligent cinematography.
Submissions will be reviewed by the program committee; review criteria will
intentionally be inclusive rather than competitive, to encourage work in
progress and a broader participation in a nascent community of researchers.
Reviews will include feedback for authors regardless of decision for
acceptance or rejection. All the selected papers (excluding 1 page
abstracts) will be published in the workshop's working notes.
Proceedings of the workshop will be published by EG Publishing provided in
the EG Digital Library.

DIRK BARTZ PRIZE FOR VISUAL COMPUTING IN MEDICINE 2015 (EUROGRAPHICS MEDICAL
PRIZE)

The Eurographics Association organizes a biannual competition to acknowledge
the contribution that computer graphics is playing in the medical field, and
to encourage further development. Originally called "Eurographics Medical
Prize" the competition was renamed to "Dirk Bartz Prize for Visual Computing
in Medicine" in 2010 -- in honor of Dirk Bartz who passed away far too early
in March 2010. Dirk Bartz was a highly recognized and enthusiastic
scientist, teacher and promoter of Visual Computing in Medicine;
furthermore, he was an active member of the Eurographics Association and
Chair of the EG Medical Prize 2007 and 2009.
CALL
Submissions for the Dirk Bartz Prize for Visual Computing in Medicine 2015
are being invited from researchers and developers who can demonstrate that a
particular benefit has resulted from the use of computer graphics technology
in a medical application that they have produced. Examples of entries could
include the use of new data visualization techniques, interaction methods,

WINNERS
The top three winning entries of the Dirk Bartz Prize for Visual Computing
in Medicine 2015 will receive a prize and their submission will be published
in the "Short Papers and Medical Prize Awards" digital media proceedings.
The judging panel will select the winning entry on the basis of its clinical
value, use made of computer graphics, and novelty. All three winning teams
will have an opportunity to briefly present their results at Eurographics
2015, which means that at least one author of each winning team must attend
to present the results.

Mälardalen University (MDH) announces a Postdoc position in Computer
Science, specializing in Parallel Processing of Large Datasets. The Postdoc
position is intended for research and development of efficient parallel data
structures and algorithms that by efficient utilization of heterogeneous
computing platforms enables novel important real-time applications, for
example in computer graphics, visualization, image processing, or data
mining. The area of research can be adapted partly after the expertise of
the applicant. Teamwork with senior researchers and PhD students is assumed.
The employment is planned for a period of one year with a possibility to
prolong it one year more.
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in Computer Science or a
closely related field. Good knowledge in programming, data structures,
algorithms, and parallel computing is required. In depth knowledge in an
application area where efficient handling and processing of large data sets
is of importance is advantageous. Relevant areas are for example computer
graphics, visualization, image processing, or data mining. Experience in GPU
programming is a plus.
