Eurographics Symposium on Rendering 2009 Call for Papers

Call for Papers --------------- The Eurographics Symposium on Rendering 2009 will take place in Girona, Spain, from June 29 to July 1, 2009. This is the 20th annual event in the series of very successful Eurographics Symposia on Rendering and Eurographics Workshops on Rendering. The local organizers are Celine Loscos and Ignacio Martín. The program chairs are Hendrik Lensch and Peter-Pike Sloan. Any work that has previously been published or simultaneously been submitted in substantially similar form to any other conference or journal will be rejected. Contributions must be written and presented in English. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Submitted manuscripts should be formatted using the Eurographics publication style proceedings templates, and be anonymized for the double-blind reviewing process. Papers should be as long as their content requires, but not longer. Papers with average length requirements are expected to be 8 formatted pages long, including references and all figures; up to 10 pages will be allowed only where justified. During the review process, each paper's contribution will be judged in proportion to its length: a solid contribution described clearly and succinctly is more likely to be accepted than the same result submitted in a longer paper. For the second time, NPAR will be co-located with SIGGRAPH which in 2009 takes place in New Orleans. This will allow us to raise attention for this important field, to open it to new people from academia, arts, and industry. Once again NPAR will bring together researchers and practitioners to showcase cutting-edge research in non-photorealistic animation and rendering systems and techniques. Non-photorealistic animation and rendering (NPAR) refers to techniques for visually communicating ideas and information. Such techniques usually generate imagery which is expressive, rather than photorealistic. Full-length papers are the primary medium for conveying new research results at the NPAR symposium. Submissions are sought that describe original, unpublished work on all themes listed above. Paper submissions should be at most 5000 words or 10 ACM conference pages in length. The title page should include an abstract (fewer than 200 words) and keywords. The submission is electronic in PDF format; supplemental video and images may also be submitted. Submission is single-blind, so papers may be submitted in "camera-ready" format. Eurographics Workshop on Natural Phenomena: CFP

Eurographics Workshop on Natural Phenomena Munich, Germany, March 29, 2009 Workshop Chairs Eric Galin, F Jens Schneider, D Program Chairs Ming Lin, USA Michael Jones, UK Eric Galin, F Aims and Scope Synthesizing realistic natural scenes is a challenging and important problem in computer graphics. The challenge stems not only from the complexity and diversity of objects and natural phenomena interacting together, but also from the huge amount of small details that should be modeled to obtain realistic models and physically plausible simulations. Therefore, there is still a need for interactive modeling and simulation techniques capable for handling complex synthetic sceneries. The purpose of this workshop is to explore novel techniques for modeling, animating, simulating and rendering complex natural phenomena. The workshop will build on work done in recent years including simulating aging and weathering of synthetic objects, plant modeling, ecosystem simulation, gaseous phenomena and liquid flows. It will focus on non conscious or inanimate nature like rock, trees, oceans, wind, meadows (animals and humans as part of nature should be excluded). Work in this area, promising as it is, is still far from complete. Authors are invited to submit technical papers in these or related areas. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - Plant structure modeling - Ecosystem simulation - Gaseous phenomena (clouds, fog) - Simulating liquid flows and rain - Modeling fire and smoke - Aging and weathering - Terrain modeling Workshop Format The workshop will take place just before the Eurographics'09 Conference (March 29, Munich, Germany) to encourage a broad range of participants. As such, it will provide a very interesting opportunity for researchers that want to attend or present communications at both events. The workshop will be held in one day, including paper presentation and invited sessions. Participation is open to everyone, not requiring submission of a paper. The challenge stems not only from the complexity and diversity of objects and natural phenomena interacting together, but also from the huge amount of small details that should be modeled to obtain realistic models and physically plausible simulations. Therefore, there is still a need for interactive modeling and simulation techniques capable for handling complex synthetic sceneries. The purpose of this workshop is to explore novel techniques for modeling, animating, simulating and rendering complex natural phenomena. The workshop will build on work done in recent years including simulating aging and weathering of synthetic objects, plant modeling, ecosystem simulation, gaseous phenomena and liquid flows. It will focus on non conscious or inanimate nature like rock, trees, oceans, wind, meadows (animals and humans as part of nature should be excluded). Work in this area, promising as it is, is still far from complete. Authors are invited to submit technical papers in these or related areas. It is organized in cooperation with Eurographics. VRIPHYS is one of the well-established international conferences in the field of computer animation and virtual reality. The workshop provides an opportunity for researches in virtual reality and computer animation to present and discuss their latest results and to share ideas for potential directions of future research. SIGRAD 2008: Call for papers

Call for papers The Swedish Chapter of Eurographics invites contributions to the conference SIGRAD 2008, which will be held at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden, November 27-28, 2008. The theme of this year's conference is "Interactivity". We invite full papers and short papers on all aspects of interactive computer graphics and related areas describing either proven and tested solutions or novel ideas and concepts. Topics for submissions include but are not limited to the following areas:: * Graphical user interfaces * Interactive visualisation * Computational steering * User interfaces for visualisation * Training and simulation * Real-time rendering methods * Systems and software architectures * Solutions and algorithms for virtual/augmented reality applications * Experimental studies of existing methods and techniques Instructions to the authors Submissions may be full papers or short papers. Full papers should not exceed 10 pages in length. Short papers, describing novel ideas, work-in-progress and/or recent results, should be no longer than 4 pages. Note that both types of submissions must be formatted according to the same recommended style mentioned below, and all accepted papers will be published in the Proceedings of the conference. Authors are requested to submit their paper by September 30th, 2008 by email to submissions2008(a)sigrad.se. The subject of the email should be "SIGRAD submission". Authors experiencing problems with electronic submission of contributions should contact the conference chair directly. The submission email should contain the names and institutions of all authors, contact information of one contact author (name, e-mail and phone), and the title and abstract of the submission. Use the guidelines and layout found in the SIGGRAPH author instructions.
