Dear Collegues,

Here is a call for participation to the SIGGRAPH XSV 2007 program.  This
is quite a new program that was created last year.  As an SIGGRAPH'06
XSV, I would like to encourage you and especially your ex-students who
are not a student anymore (ie who graduated) to apply, especially
exciting for anyone who would rather like a career in academia! This is
really a great opportunity for new researchers and I am willing to
answer any question (
mailto:zabador@cg.tuwien.ac.at) you might have in
addition to the great website and FAQ prepared by Janet McAndless,
XSV2007 Chair.

Call For Participation:

Have you served or wanted to serve as a Student Volunteer for SIGGRAPH
2006, 2005, or 2004? Are you finished with school now and no longer
qualify for the Student Volunteers Program? If you'd like to stay
involved but are not exactly sure how, the XSV program may be right for
you.

SIGGRAPH 2007 wants to collaborate with you in this second year of a new
initiative. We seek a very few recent undergraduate or graduate students
who who are interested in SIGGRAPH conference volunteer work. Those
interested in ACM SIGGRAPH and starting careers in computer graphics and
interactive techniques will be selected for an opportunity to apprentice
with a SIGGRAPH 2007 committee or co-located symposium.

As an apprentice, you will be assigned to a specific committee and
mentored by the respective program/committee chair. With mentored
assistance, you will take on appropriate responsibilities within a team
of volunteers who work to make the conference a success. If you are
selected, your responsibilities may start as early as December 2006 and
continue until the conference is over in August 2007 (but not full time,
so don't worry too much about that).

This initiative promises to be very competitive. Only one position
exists for each of the following areas:

Art Gallery
Computer Animation Festival
Emerging Technologies / Emerging Display Technologies Workshop
Graphics Hardware 2007 symposium
GraphicsNet
Panels & Special Sessions
Sandbox Video Game Symposium
Sketches & Posters
NPAR (Symposium on Non-Photorealistic Animation and Rendering)
SCA (Symposium on Computer Animation)

If you're not familiar with an area above, but it sounds interesting,
check the SIGGRAPH 2007 web site or Google the name to gain more
information.

Interested candidates will not apply directly for the XSV program, but
must obtain 3 references to complete their applications (see
http://www.siggraph.org/s2007/volunteers/xsv/applying.html for details).

Any questions, let me know. Please also forward this announcement to any
others who may be interested.

Best Regards,
Janet McAndless
