The Faculty of Technology at Bielefeld University is inviting applications for the following faculty position starting as soon as possible:

 

Junior Professorship (W1) with Tenure Track Option (W2) for Multimodal Behavior Processing

 

 

Candidates should be excellent junior scientists and be able to contribute to research and teaching in one or several of the following areas: social signal processing, multimodal interaction processing, human performance capture.  The successful candidate will be able to support our strong interdisciplinary reasearch on real-time interactive systemd in virtual reality through work on the recognition or interpretations of interaction-related multimodal user signals or behavior, e.g., facial expressions, gesture, gaze, attention, emtion.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to participate actively in the interdisciplinary research center “Cognitive Interaction Technology” (CITEC) at Bielefeld University, and should be open to interdisciplinary cooperation within the department and the university.

 

Candidates are expected to have strong teaching capabilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to provide lectures in basic computer science as well as in their specialized topics. They should participate actively in the development of the bachelor, master, and PhD programs in computer science and interactive Intelligent systems.

 

Appointment requires a university degree and a qualified PhD in a relevant subject as well as pedagogical aptitude. The contract will initially be for three years, with the possibility of extension for another three years, given a positive intermediate evaluation. If the final evaluation is positive, the position will be transformed into a tenured W2 professorship (tenure track option).
