Eurographics-EuroVR Workshop on Semantic 3D Content 2019: Call for Papers - May 6, 2019 - Genova, Italy

<http://www.semantic3d.org/workshop> The 1st Eurographics-EuroVR Workshop on Semantic 3D Content (Semantic 3D 2019), sponsored by the EuroVR Association, will address an extensive range of research, development, and practice related to the use of the semantic web for representation, creation, visualization and maintenance of 3D content and animations. The goal of the workshop is to share innovative and creative ideas that enable development of semantic 3D applications for a wide range of 3D environments, including the web, mobile as well as virtual and augmented reality (VR & AR) setups. Works related to various application domains, including e-commerce, education, cultural heritage, entertainment and infotainment, social media, tourism, medicine, military, industry and construction (and many others) are welcome. The approaches will be considered in the context of building scalable, pervasive 3D/VR/AR systems using different semantic web (e.g., RDF, RDFS and OWL) and rule-based standards, 3D formats and browsers. Finally, common fields of interest and opportunities of future collaboration will be identified and discussed. The workshop attempts to foster and support the increasing development, use, and utility of semantic 3D technologies for researchers, application developers, domain experts as well as for end users. This includes semantic creation of interactive 3D content, robust and versatile semantic 3D content representation and delivery standards as well as semantic presentation and interaction techniques enabling development of user-friendly 3D/VR/AR applications. ====================================================== COMPUTER GRAPHICS & VISUAL COMPUTING 2019 (CGVC2019) The 37th Annual Conference organised by the UK chapter of the Eurographics Association, 12-13 September 2019, Bangor University, UK http://www.eguk.org.uk/CGVC2019/ ====================================================== The annual EGUK conference is a meeting place for all those in the UK working in computer graphics and visual computing (including, Computer Graphics and Vision, Information and Scientific Visualization, and Visual Analytics). It attracts researchers from across the country and from further afield. The 2019 conference Computer Graphics & Visual Computing will be an overnight meeting (lunchtime to lunchtime). The conference wants to focus on increasing the dialogue between academic research groups, researchers in academic and in industrial developments. In order to facilitate such dialogue, we are seeking contributions in the form of full papers, short papers, viewpoint papers and extended abstracts (posters). Optional single-blind or double-blind - reviewers’ identities are not revealed. Authors may choose whether to anonymize their submission or not. • Full papers - a paper of 4 to 8 pages describing completed research, plus an additional page of references. Papers are refereed by members of an international program committee (IPC). Authors of accepted papers are expected to give a 15-20 minute presentation at the conference. Accepted papers will appear in the Eurographics digital library and will serve as full paper publications. • Short papers - The purpose of short papers is to present late-breaking results, work-in-progress, and follow-up extensions or evaluations of existing methods. Short papers will be peer-reviewed in a one-stage process by an international program committee (IPC). They will be electronically archived and are fully citable publications. Submissions for the short paper track should be at most 4 pages, with an additional page allowed for references. Accepted short papers will be presented orally at the conference in (approximately) 12-15 minute presentations. • Viewpoint Papers (aka. Position paper) - Viewpoint paper track enables researchers a new possibility to publish their ideas. Viewpoints articles offer detailed technical opinions on trends in visual computing or reports on how visual computing has contributed to the comprehension of data or phenomena, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. We encourage discussions of challenges or limitations in today's methods and areas of potential new topics of research. We are also interested in application discussions that focus on, for example, the areas of physical, life or social sciences, engineering, or commerce, or areas related to the process of visual computing in general. We encourage an emphasis on lessons learned from practical experience for application discussions, particularly where visual computing has been employed in a real, working environment. Viewpoint papers are submitted with author names and affiliations (at most 4-pages). Accepted viewpoint papers will be electronically archived, are fully citable publications and will be presented orally at the conference in (approximately) 12-15 minute presentations. • Extended Abstracts (Poster Papers) - The purpose of this track is to present late-breaking results, work in progress, and follow-up extensions or evaluations of existing methods. In particular, it provides young researchers, especially postgraduate students, with valuable opportunities to receive feedback from other researchers, and engage in stimulating discussions. The poster track will be managed by the co-chair team and the International Program Committee (IPC). We solicit poster submissions in the form of an extended abstract of at most 2 pages (with an additional page allowed for references only). Posters will be peer-reviewed in a one-stage process. Accepted posters, size A1 recommended, will be presented at the poster viewing session of the conference. In addition to directly submitted posters, some submissions to the full, short and viewpoint paper tracks, that are not accepted for publication but are deemed suitable, will be offered an opportunity to be presented as posters. Such submissions will not require an additional review process. Accepted abstracts (poster papers) do not appear in the Eurographics digital library, and will not be considered as a paper publication, instead being similar to a SIGGRAPH one-page sketch or to a conference poster without an associated full paper. The Computer Graphics Group at Bielefeld University (Germany) is looking for a PhD or PostDoc candidate for a large collaborative and interdisciplinary project on Virtual Reality therapy for adiposity, starting in May 2019. The goal of the project is to develop novel therapy procedures by using state-of-the-art VR/AR technologies for stimulating a change in body perception, for instance by modulating participants' avatars. Dear computer graphics education practitioner: **The deadline for the submission of papers to the EG Education Program is now the 21th of January** It was postponed, mainly, in order to avoid deadline conflicts with the other important venues in the CG field. There are now two weeks to prepare a submission showcasing amazing new content, for all the ones of us working on education in Computer Graphics (and related fields) and willing to share their experiences. The Call For Papers is unchanged: === EG Education Papers: Call For Papers We are seeking original contributions for presentation and publication in the EG2019 education track. We wish to build and enhance a vibrant community of Computer Graphics teachers who share their knowledge and experience of bringing computer graphics to the classroom and getting others excited about the field. The scope of the track includes topics in education related to computer graphics, computer graphics in education, teaching/classroom experience related to computer graphics content, assignments and outstanding student projects in computer graphics. We invite authors to submit papers, panels and student projects related to the following topics: * Teaching Computer Graphics to diverse audiences (e.g. computer science, engineering, arts); * Designing curricula for Computer Graphics and related disciplines (e.g. image processing, visualization, animation and games); * Designing and teaching online and hybrid courses in computer graphics; * Classroom challenges in computer graphics (e.g. innovative and effective assessment, * Engaging student interest, managing diverse student backgrounds, teaching mathematical foundations); * Enabling and exploiting visual tools and techniques to teach in other disciplines; * Incorporating modern technology in Computer Graphics courses (e.g. VR, AR, 3D printing) * Bringing Computer Graphics research into the classroom; * Promoting undergraduate research in Computer Graphics. Computationally demanding and data-intensive applications in graphics and visualization are strongly affected by this trend and require novel, efficient parallel solutions. The aim of this symposium is to foster the exchange of experiences and knowledge exploiting and defining new trends in parallel graphics and visualization. The proceedings of the EuroGraphics Symposium on Parallel Graphics and Visualization (EGPGV) will be published in the Eurographics Proceedings Series and in the Eurographics Digital Library. EGPGV19 will be collocated with EuroVis2019, held the week of June 3-7 2019, in Porto, Portugal. The symposium seeks papers on graphics and visualization that involve any type of parallel computing, and/or focus on very large data sets. Papers on techniques, data structures, algorithms, systems, and applications are welcomed. Parallel computing is broadly defined, including high-performance computing and cloud environments, (multi-) GPU computing and heterogeneous, hybrid architectures, and shared and/or distributed memory architectures. Further, papers focused on processing very large data sets (either for visualization or graphics) are welcomed, even if they do not have a particular focus on parallelism. 3D Shape Retrieval Contest, SHREC 2019, http://www.shrec.net/ Call for Track Proposals *Introduction* The general objective of the 3D Shape Retrieval Contest is to evaluate the effectiveness of 3D-shape retrieval algorithms. SHREC'19 is the thirteens edition of the contest. Like previous years, it is organized in conjunction with the Eurographics Workshop on 3D Object Retrieval, where the results will be reviewed and included in the workshop proceedings. Thanks to the efforts of previous track organizers, SHREC already provides many resources to compare and evaluate 3D retrieval methods. For this year's contest, we aim to explore new and updated tracks. Therefore, the participants are invited to have an active role in the organization of the event. This includes proposing track themes, building or acquiring a test collection, and deciding upon the queries, relevance assessment, and performance measures. The participants of each track will collectively write a paper, which will be published in the proceedings of the Eurographics Workshop 3D Object Retrieval 2019, http://3dor2019.ge.imati.cnr.it/. At least one author per track must register for the workshop, and present the results. We also cordially invite all participants of a track to register and attend the workshop. *Tracks* The tracks organized in the past years have covered different aspects and tasks of 3D shape retrieval, for example: rigid or non-rigid models; partial (e.g. range scan) or complete models; sketch-based 3D retrieval; generic or domain specific models (e.g. CAD, biometrics, architectural and protein), and various aspects such as metric learning, outlier detection, correspondence, robustness, stability, registration, classification, recognition, pose estimation, and machine learning. Now we solicit again proposals for tracks. You may opt for one of the above themes, or propose new ones. Track organizers are responsible for all aspects of organizing the track, such as: the task, the data collection (copyright issues, etc.), the queries, the ground truth, the experimental design, the evaluation method, and the procedural aspects, writing the final paper in collaboration with the contestants, and submitting it. EG2019 Think Tank - NEW EUROGRAPHICS SESSION & CGF Publication

EG2019 Think Tank. For the first year, EUROGRAPHICS2019 will host the new track EG2019 Think Tank, as special sessions of the EG2019 Program. Each EG2019 Think Tank is intended to promote discussion around emerging topics challenges in Computer Graphics, welcoming ideas that arise from the cross-fertilization among different fields such as Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Geometric Modelling, Virtual & Augmented Reality, CAD. Topics for a Think Tank session can also be suggested by Application of Computer Graphics to Engineering, Bio-Medicine, Art, etc. Think Tank sessions will be organized as a panel session of one-hour, during which the proposer will be asked to give an introduction to the theme, followed by a panel/brainstorming session with the audience. The EG2019 Think Tank proposer must coordinate, and participate to, his/her session if accepted. International research and experts in academia and industry will present their ongoing research activities and results, open problems, trends, sub-areas, and applications in different research areas that could raise interests and discussion in the audience. Main topics include, but are not limited to, ● Computer-Aided Design ● Geometric Modeling ● Computer Animation ● Computer Vision and Image Processing ● Information Visualization and Scientific Visualization ● Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality ● Multimedia Applications ● Serious gaming ● Web Graphics and Mobile Graphics ● Creativity and Digital Art ● Applications to Engineering, Bio-Medicine, etc. An EG2019 Think Tank submission must include the following materials and information. ● A four-page document describing the idea, the motivation and the impact that the new topic is expected to have. We strongly suggest proposers to include a short statement of colleagues in Computer Graphics that second the proposal and that will animate the Think Tank session and the brainstorming discussion. A short reference list is welcome. ● Any supporting material, such as videos, software demonstration, prototype, demos, etc. According to their topics and scope, each EG2019 Think Tank Session will be scheduled as oral presentation of 30 minutes, followed by 20 minutes of discussion and 10 minutes of wrap-up. EG2019 Think Tank Sessions: Important Dates & Submission ● Proposal Submission Deadline: February 4, 2019. Proposal submissions should be sent to <mailto:chairs-eg2019ws@eg.org> chairs-eg2019ws(a)eg.org and will be reviewed by international experts. ● Notification of Acceptance: March 1, 2019 After submission ● After the EG2019, the Think Tank organizers, will select 1 or 2 topics among those ones discussed during the Think Tank Sessions and will work to develop them further into submissions to Computer Graphics Forum, inviting the proposers and participants of the Think Tank sessions to contribute. We plan for each submission to consist of a coherent position article (4-12 pages) based on the extended abstract submitted for the Think Tank, a collection of scholarly commentaries (1-2 pages each) by a number of participants in the Think Tank, and a feedback statement by the author(s) of the position article.
