SBIM 2010 Call For Participation Created in 2004, the Eurographics Symposium on Sketch-based Interfaces and Modeling (SBIM) provides a unique venue for researchers, students and practitioners interested in sketch-based techniques to interact with one another, share lessons learned, show new results and discuss open issues. The goal of this symposium is to explore models, algorithms and technologies needed to enable effective sketch-based interfaces. It investigates novel methods for classification and recognition of hand-drawn shapes, and the ways of using these techniques for creating or editing digital models, from text, mathematics, and 2D diagrams to 3D shapes. Likewise, the symposium explores the application of sketch-based interfaces to 3D computer graphics, animation, and CAD, as well as other specific applications such as diagram editing and note taking and novel input devices. Finally, the symposium welcomes empirical user studies aimed at clarifying the nature of sketch-based interfaces and comparing them to other interaction techniques. This year, the symposium will be held in Annecy, France and will be co-located with the 8th Symposium on Non Photorealistic Animation and Rendering (NPAR 2010) and the Annecy film festival -- for more information see http://graphics.cs.williams.edu/sbim-npar10/ . The symposium will include paper presentations (single track), coffee breaks, demonstrations, a social event, and a keynote talk by (to be determined). All are welcome to attend SBIM; submission of a paper is not required for attendance. The proceedings will be published in the EG Symposia series and made available online through the Eurographics and ACM Digital Libraries. Authors are invited to submit original papers on topics in pen-based 2D and 3D modeling, sketch recognition, and pen-based interface design, including, but not limited to: . Multi-touch interfaces and applications Paper Submission Authors are requested to submit original research papers, no longer than 8 pages, with the main body set in Eurographics Conference Paper format. All submissions are electronic and the review process is double-blind.
