Research Assistant/PostDoc - Visualization of Neuroscientific Data
The Virtual Reality Group at RWTH Aachen University focuses on
application-driven research in virtual reality and scientific visualization.
We are currently looking to expand our team in the area of large data
visualization.
The open position is embedded in the Human Brain Project, one of two FET EU
flagship projects (
http://www.humanbrainproject.eu). You will be developing
visualization methods for heterogeneous data sets including, e.g., medical
imaging data, experimentally acquired data, and large-scale neural network
simulations. Major challenges are the heterogeneity and volatility of
existing workflows and the size and amount of available data sets. As part
of your work you will present your results at internationally visible
venues.
Successful candidates will have a university degree in computer science or a
related subject. You have specialized in scientific visualization, real-time
computer graphics, and/or parallel programming. In addition, you have
acquired solid skills in software development, ideally while participating
in one or more major software projects. You are highly motivated to work in
a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment.
You will be employed by RWTH Aachen University, one of Germany's premier
institutions in engineering and science, as a full-time research assistant
(TV-L E13) or PostDoc (TV-L E14). As a research assistant, you will be given
the opportunity to work towards a PhD degree in computer science. As a
post-doc you will conduct independent research in order to further sharpen
and extend your academic profile and advise PhD students during their daily
research work.
