Symposium on Computer Animation 2012 July 29-31 Lausanne, Switzerland Call for Participation & Poster submissions The Symposium on Computer Animation (SCA) is the premier forum for innovations in the software and technology of computer animation. With 80 submitted scientific papers SCA 2012 promises to become one of those memorable SCA events. This year it will be held near Lake Geneva in EPFL providing a fantastic view on this beautiful region. Three social events will offer opportunities of extended exchanges within the architectural landmark of the Rolex Learning Center, the very original wooden shell structure of the Polydome venue, and finally the historical wineyard castle of Glérolle on the lakeshore. New this year! A Best Poster award will be presented to the top poster. Note that posters are not formal publications, so work submitted as a poster is still eligible for later publication, and will be exempt from inclusion in the ACM and Eurographics Digital Libraries. We encourage any of the following types of poster submissions: * Up and coming computer animation research * Technically novel production work * Work done outside of SCA that would be of interest to the computer animation community. 3DimPVT 2012 : Call for Papers Dates: Paper submission: July 1st (registered BMVC submissions need to be registered by July 1st and submitted by July 7th, please see http://www.3dimpvt.org/ for details) Notification: August 15th Camera ready: September 1st Conference: October 13-15 The interest in acquiring and creating 3D representations of the world is ever increasing. 3DimPVT provides a premier platform for disseminating research results covering a broad variety of topics in the area of 3D research in computer vision and graphics, from novel optical sensors, signal processing, geometric modeling, representation and transmission, to visualization and applications. The conference will be held in Zurich, Switzerland. Accepted papers will be presented in single-track oral and poster sessions. Geman Summer School 2012 on developing "VR and AR Apps" for the Virtual Heritage

*********************************************************************************************************** CALL FOR PARTICIPATION to the first German Virtual Heritage School - Year 2012 GNSS 2012 – German National Summer School on “Developing VR and AR Apps” for the digital cultural heritage Saalburg, Germany, 3-7 September 2012 *********************************************************************************************************** This is the first edition of the german national summer school conducted by the Fraunhofer IGD. The school introduces participants to the new field on web deployment of VR and web based AR Applications ("VR/AR Apps") as well as related topics on applied CG technology in the area of virtual and augmented digital heritage, 3D reconstruction, technological tools dedicated to processing and integration into web front ends, ported to mobile smartphones and registered with the physical world. The students will learn basic concepts on 3D documentation, capturing, tracking and reconstruction technologies required for online/offline and mobile virtual museums. The topics to be addressed are: ▪ Virtual Reality on the web (VR Apps) – HTML 5 embedding of interactive 3D graphics, X3DOM, 3D event handling and routing, interaction and advanced visualisation techniques within web browsers, online virtual museums (www.x3dom.org) ▪ Augmented Reality (AR Apps) – capturing, registration, analysis-by-synthesis techniques, extensions to browser front-ends, remote tracking and advanced feature based registration methods (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSWxrDrvDy8) ▪ 3D Documentation – basic technologies on digitisation, pre- and postprocessing as well as 3D annotation and metadata handling for 3D digital assets (e.g. http://www.3dcoform.eu/x3domCatalogue// <http://www.3dcoform.eu/x3domCatalogue/> ) Participants will gain practical experiences on developing compelling and sophisticated 3D interactive applications for the web as well as mobile platforms. Minimal requirements are basic experiences with modern Web Design technologies i.e. HTML 5, Javascript, CSS3. The programme consists of 8 theoretical blocks on the diverse technologies as well as 6 practical afternoon blocks in which students will get "hands-on" experiences on VR/AR web app development. The approach aims to leverage 3 key factors: 1) intensive lectures on 3D documentation, acquisition as well as presentation in the field of VR/AR; 2) intensive exchange for students and teachers living in the same environment; 3) multidisciplinary approach. Professionals from CH institutions (cultural foundations, museums), young researchers and students in the area of applied CG are invited to submit their application to attend the school. The Institute of Computer Graphics at the Faculty of Technology and Natural Science at the Johannes Kepler University Linz is seeking (starting earliest July 1st, 2012) a: Scientist / Predoctoral Associate (full position, limited to 2 years) Applicants must hold a Master or Univ. Diploma degree in computer science or related fields, such as mathematics or mediainformatics, and should have profound experience in one or more of the following areas: computer graphics, information visualization, statistics, and human computer interaction. Considerable experience with software development methodology is expected. Knowledge in OpenGL is recommended. Prior involvement in research or development projects is a plus. The research focus will be on the development of novel Information Visualization and Visual Analytics techniques within interdisciplinary application fields such as biomedicine. Additional duties include the support of the acquisition of third-party funds, the collaboration in teaching, and the supervision of theses in master-, bachelor-, and diploma courses. Candidates must be fluent in English (speaking and writing). The candidate has the possibility to obtain a Ph.D. degree. The 30th Conference organised by the UK chapter of the Eurographics Association will be the tenth Theory and Practice of Computer Graphics 2012 Conference (TP.CG.12). It will take place at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory on the 13-14 September 2012, with a paper deadline of May 18th, 2012. All accepted papers will be published by Eurographics and held on the Digital Library, and will be available at the conference. The aim of the conference is to focus on theoretical and practical aspects of Computer Graphics and to bring together top practitioners, users and researchers, which will hopefully inspire further collaboration between participants particularly between academia and industry.
