Dear Colleagues, we would like to remind you of the upcoming deadline of Image Contest of the Eurographics Workshop on Visual Computing for Biology and Medicine (VCBM) 2020. The deadline is September 20, 2020. We invite you to submit your images related to biology and medicine, such as visualizations, or computer-generated or hand-drawn illustrations. All submissions will be displayed in a virtual gallery on the VCBM webpage, and a jury will choose the best submission to win the VCBM Image Award according to aesthetics, ability to communicate information content, and application relevance. A selection of best papers will be invited to submit an extended version to the Computers & Graphics Journal (Elsevier). *********************************************************** CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS Smart Tools and Applications in Graphics (STAG) is an annual international conference organized by the Italian Chapter of the Eurographics Association (EG). For its seventh edition the conference will be held on November 12-13, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the conference will be held in a virtual forum using a video conferencing platform. It is our intention to retain as much of the conference programme as is practical, including all paper presentations and keynotes. The aim of STAG is the dissemination of research activities and novel ideas on both theoretical and application oriented aspects of Computer Graphics, bringing together researchers and practitioners from both national and international scientific communities to share their latest developments. Contributions on new ways to solve real problems, clever solutions to optimize or otherwise improve techniques and algorithms for real-world applications are encouraged. System, libraries, and workflow papers with impact on real-world applications are also welcome. We encourage submissions in all areas of Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Visual Computing, and related disciplines. This year, we invite contributions in the form of full papers, and we will host, as usual, the EG-Italy thesis award ceremony. =================================================================== New Post-Doctoral Position Opening The Interactive Graphics and Simulation (IGS) Group, established in 2014 at University of Innsbruck, Austria, invites applications for the position of a full-time post-doctoral researcher. We are seeking a highly-qualified individual with interest and skill in fields related to the research themes of the IGS group. This could include, but is not limited to: medical training systems, virtual/augmented reality, physically-based simulation, computer haptics. Candidates should have earned a doctoral degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Mechatronics, or other related areas), possess a publication record commensurate with experience, and have demonstrated strengths in some of the interest domains of the IGS group, as outlined above. Knowledge and experience in programming in C/C++ is required, as well as a good level in English, both written and spoken. Experience in teaching and project management is a benefit. We seek a candidate showing enthusiasm for leading-edge research, team spirit, and capability for independent problem-solving. Applicants are expected to assume active roles in research projects, and in supervision of junior researchers and students. Responsibilities also include teaching at Bachelor and Master level. The research directions will be defined in accordance with the interests of the candidate and the research group. The position is open immediately, with applications being reviewed on an ongoing basis. The initial stage deadline is September 20th, 2020. The position is offered for a duration of up to six years, on the level of non-permanent university research staff. Salaries are internationally competitive and commensurate with qualification and experience. We encourage authors to submit work to GCH2020, as we will publish the proceedings and make them available in the Eurographics Digital Library. ####################### The 18th EUROGRAPHICS Workshop on Graphics and Cultural Heritage (GCH 2020) aims to engage practitioners and researchers across the world working at the interface of novel 3D digital technologies and cultural heritage. This year, EG GCH will be ONLINE, organized by the University of Granada. The event will explore the role of computer graphics and digital technologies in cultural heritage preservation and dissemination, linking its development with other economic and scientific areas, such as conservation and restoration, or with the role of technologies in sustainable tourism. GCH2020 welcomes presentations of projects and applications that demonstrate how computer graphics and other digital technologies could impact to cultural heritage. Specific sessions will be organized for active networking to seek new challenges and projects involving different stakeholders of the European Heritage ecosystem. Hence, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches are particularly welcome to the event. For the research community, GCH 2020 will provide, as always, an excellent scientific forum to exchange novel ideas and developments as well as to identify future research and application opportunities. For the practitioner community, GCH 2020 will provide a unique opportunity to feed into technical developments as well as to identify new techniques and ideas which can be transferred into practice. 15 PhD Positions in MSCA-ITN PRIME

We are pleased to announce 15 open PhD positions in the MSCA ITN PRIME (Predictive Rendering In Manufacture and Engineering). PRIME ( <http://prime-itn.eu/> http://prime-itn.eu/) is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network in the framework of Horizon 2020, starting on October 1st, 2020 with a four-year duration. The network consists of 7 universities and one company as hiring institutions, plus 11 industrial partners. The goal of this ITN is to have the participants develop skills and protocols needed for industrial usage of Predictive Rendering (PR) technologies - image synthesis which delivers results that one can actually rely on to be visually accurate. Application areas of such systems are in such diverse areas as product design, architecture, sensor system calibration, training of autonomous vehicle systems, movie VFX and manufacturing control. Goal of the ITN is to collectively train young researchers in this promising, future-oriented and research-driven application area: each PhD student has an industrially relevant cutting-edge research topic, descriptions of which can be found in the individual job adverts: <http://prime-itn.eu/positions.html> http://prime-itn.eu/positions.html PRIME brings some of the main European actors in the field of rendering research together. =SCA 2020 Call for Posters= Dear Colleagues, This year, the 19th annual ACM SIGGRAPH / Eurographics Symposium on Computer Animation (SCA), the premier forum for innovations in the software and technology of computer animation, will be held online, September 2020 (dates to be announced soon). We would like to bring your attention to our call for posters. Our poster track is an ideal venue for researchers to share their theories and innovations with peers and collaborators. Fresh content generates discussion, feedback, and inspiration. Moreover, we are happy to announce that poster abstracts (up to two pages in length) will be included in the Eurographics Digital Library. State-of-the-Art Reports (STARs) provide an up-to-date and comprehensive overview of a special topic of current interest related to Computer Graphics. We welcome submissions on all topics relevant to EUROGRAPHICS, and particularly encourage STARs on topics that have not been covered in any recent edition. STAR reports on cross-sectional, multi-disciplinary areas are also highly welcomed. A STAR can also address the use of Computer Graphics techniques in a different scientific discipline or in industrial practice. For examples of suitable STAR topics, please refer to the EUROGRAPHICS digital library. Accepted STARs will be published in a special issue of Computer Graphics Forum, which appears right before the EUROGRAPHICS conference. At EUROGRAPHICS’2021, the authors of a STAR will be given 90 minutes to present the report at a level that allows non-experts in the particular domain to follow the presentation. Papers must be written in English and prepared according to this year’s template, which can be found at the Submission and Review Management (SRMv2) <https://srmv2.eg.org/COMFy/Conference/EG_2021STARs> system. The deadline for the submission of STAR abstracts is October 29, 2020. The submission of an abstract is not mandatory, but will support the chairs in recruiting the right reviewers for your submission. The deadline for the submission of STARs is 23:59 UTC, November 3, 2020, with notification of conditional acceptance on December 22, 2020. The revised version of conditionally accepted STARs will have to be submitted by February 23, 2021, for a second review, the final notification will happen by March 9, 2021, and the camera ready version will be due on March 26, 2021. The STARs undergo a single-blind review process. To demonstrate the relevant expertise needed to produce the proposed STAR, authors should include their short biographies as supplementary materials. We do not impose strict maximum lengths for these submissions. However, it is recommended that papers be up to 20 pages excluding references and the authors’ short bios, to conform to the general recommendation for CGF survey papers.
