Call for Education Papers 5 days before end of submission
We are seeking original contributions for presentation and publication in
the EG 2017 education track. We seek to build and enhance a vibrant
community of computer graphics teachers who share their knowledge and
experience of bringing computer graphics to the classroom and getting others
excited about the field.
The scope of the track includes topics in education related to computer
graphics, computer graphics in education, teaching/classroom experience
related to computer graphics content, "nifty assignments" and outstanding
student projects in computer graphics. Authors are invited to submit papers,
panels and student projects.
We invite submissions related to the following topics:
o Teaching computer graphics to diverse audiences (e.g. computer science,
engineering, arts, etc.);
o Designing curricula for computer graphics and related disciplines (e.g.
image processing, visualization, animation and games, etc.);
o Designing and teaching online and hybrid courses in computer graphics;
o Classroom challenges in computer graphics (e.g. innovative and effective
assessment, engaging student interest, managing diverse student backgrounds,
teaching mathematical foundations, etc.);
o Enabling and exploiting visual tools and techniques to teach in other
disciplines;
o Incorporating modern technology in computer graphics courses (e.g. VR, AR,
3D printing, etc.);
o Bringing computer graphics research into the classroom; o Promoting
undergraduate research in computer graphics;
The best papers will be recommended to the editors of prestigious journals
in the field, CGF, C&G and IEEECG&A, who may invite the authors of these
papers to submit extended versions to their journals. The best nifty
assignments may be published in the CGEMS.
. Education papers and experience reports should provide new insights or
experience that improve student learning and emphasize on how instructors
can directly use them in the classroom.
. Proposals for panels should state the problem to be discussed and include
a short statement from proposed panelists.
. "Nifty assignments" should explain the assignment, provide examples of
handouts and starter code and example student work. Authors may provide them
as supplementary materials during submission, and agree to provide access to
them online upon acceptance.
. Outstanding student projects (individual or group) should describe the
learning context for the project and show how the student(s) brought
creativity to the work. Upon acceptance authors will be expected to
demonstrate the project during their presentation.
Submission Details
Anonymous submissions of up to 8 pages for education papers or up to 2 pages
for notes on nifty assignments or outstanding student projects must be
formatted according to the Eurographics Author's guidelines. Submissions
will be made electronically through the Eurographics Submission and Review
Management system and subject to a review process.

Computer Graphics International is one of the oldest international annual
conferences in Computer Graphics and one of the most important ones
worldwide, founded by the Computer Graphics Society (CGS). It is a yearly
meeting where academics present their latest algorithms, models and
technologies, and explore new trends and ideas on various computer graphics
topics. Since 1983 it has been held in numerous different cities worldwide
including Geneva, Tokyo, Sydney, Boston, Singapore and many different
countries in Europe, Asia, Australia and North & South America. CGI'17, the
34th annual conference will take place on June 27th - June 30th 2017 in
Yokohama, Japan. The conference is organized by the Computer Graphics
Society (CGS) and hosted by Faculty of Science and Engineering, Keio
University, in cooperation with ACM SIGGRAPH.
PUBLICATION
The scientific program of the conference will include full papers, short
papers and posters. The accepted full papers will be published in the Visual
Computer Journal (impact factor 1.06) by Springer-Verlag. The accepted short
papers will be included in the conference proceedings to be published as
part of ACM International Conference Proceedings Series and will be
available online from the ACM Digital Library. Authors of the highest-ranked
short papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their work to
the Visual Computer; these papers will follow a fast track review process.
The accepted posters will be included in the conference USB.

The 15th EUROGRAPHICS Workshop on Graphics and Cultural Heritage (GCH'17)
aims to foster an international dialogue between ICT experts and CH
scientists to advance the understanding of critical requirements for
processing, managing, and delivering cultural information to a broad
audience. The objective of the workshop is to introduce and showcase new
techniques and applications for supporting Cultural Heritage information
ranging from data acquisition, analysis and synthesis, 3D documentation, and
data management, to new forms of interactive presentation and 3D printing
solutions. Interdisciplinary approaches for analysis, classification and
interpretation of cultural artefacts are particularly relevant to the event.
GCH'17 provides a scientific forum to exchange novel ideas and techniques in
research, education and dissemination of Cultural Heritage information, to
transfer them into practice, and identify future research and application
opportunities. To advance the dialogue between ICT and CH experts, GCH'17
will be held in close cooperation with the Museumsakademie of the
Universalmuseum Joanneum in Graz, providing opportunity for exchange between
the domains.
We seek original, innovative and previously unpublished contributions in the
computer graphics area applied to digital cultural heritage, challenging the
state of the art solutions and leveraging new ideas for future developments.
Equally, original contributions in the cultural heritage field of relevance
to computer graphics are welcome. Specific workshop sessions will be devoted
to reports on applications, experiences and projects in this domain.

Eurographics 2017 call for student volunteers.
The EG2017 Student Volunteer program is a great opportunity for young
researchers to attend a major conference in Computer Graphics and to
establish and expand their network with the most relevant academicians,
professionals and other students in the field.
Student Volunteers are integral part of the success of a conference. We are
in the process of recruiting a team of reliable and enthusiastic students
who help us host and manage a successful, productive and enjoyable
conference. A wide range of responsibilities will be assigned to volunteers,
such as:
. Support at the Registration desks
. Badge checks for technical sessions, workshops, demos, reception and
dinner
. Support at the Help desks
. Help with setting up and maintaining demos, poster and other arrangements
. Audio and video support
. Helping hand for organizing committee
In general, no special skills are required except for one or two positions,
where we are looking for individuals with good photography, blogging, and
A/V skills.
For their time and unmeasurable efforts, student volunteers will receive a
full student registration. This includes free access to the entire
conference, including technical sessions, demo and poster sessions,
reception and conference diner.
Student volunteers are responsible for their traveling and lodging expenses
during the conference days.
Applicants must be Master or PhD students during the 2016-2017 academic
year. The individuals must have a positive attitude and have good
communication skills in English.
Volunteers are required to show up 5-10 minutes before their allotted
service times and be available to help out for unforeseen surprises, which
are difficult to predict. We expect every volunteerto commit to a total of
about 15 volunteer hours of work at the conference (over 5 days).
Responsibilities and time allotment during the conference will be sent to
the volunteers a few weeks before the start of the conference, and
volunteers must plan to attend the information meeting on April 7th 2014
morning before the start of the conference.

Crowdsourcing journal rankings in Computer Graphics
You are invited to participate in a crowdsourcing study run by CORE
(Australasian COmputing Research and Education association) to collect
opinions on the quality of various computer science journals. The intent is
to analyse the usefulness of this data as input to a rankings process for
adding or modifying rankings of journals in the CORE database
(portal.core.edu.au/jnl-ranks). If aggregate opinions are found to be
useful,they will be provided to the rankings committee for assessment
regarding journal ranking decisions.
The success of crowdsourced data collection depends on obtaining large
numbers of participants. There are insufficient computer graphics
researchers in Australasia to make a good sample, so we are seeking opinions
from researchers in the Eurographics community.
To participate in this study you must be an active researcher, and hold a
PhD in the field.

Call for Track Proposals
*Introduction*
The general objective of the 3D Shape Retrieval Contest is to evaluate the
effectiveness of 3D-shape retrieval algorithms. SHREC'17 is the twelfth
edition of the contest. Like previous years, it is organized in conjunction
with the Eurographics Workshop on 3D Object Retrieval, where the results
will be reviewed and included in the workshop proceedings.
Thanks to the efforts of previous track organizers, SHREC already provides
many resources to compare and evaluate 3D retrieval methods. For this year's
contest, we aim to explore new and updated tracks. Therefore, the
participants are invited to have an active role in the organization of the
event. This includes proposing track themes, building or acquiring a test
collection, and deciding upon the queries, relevance assessment, and
performance measures.
The participants of each track will collectively write a paper, which will
be published in the proceedings of the Eurographics Workshop 3D Object
Retrieval 2017, http://liris.cnrs.fr/eg3dor2017/. At least one author per
track must register for the workshop, and present the results. We also
cordially invite all participants of a track to register and attend the
workshop.
*Tracks*
The tracks organized in the past years have covered different aspects and
tasks of 3D shape retrieval, for example: rigid or non-rigid models; partial
(i.e. range scan) or complete models; sketch-based 3D retrieval; generic or
domain specific models (i.e. CAD, biometrics, architectural and protein),
correspondence, robustness, stability, registration, classification,
recognition, pose estimation and machine learning.
Now, we solicit again proposals for tracks. You may opt for one of the above
themes, or propose new ones. Track organizers are responsible for all
aspects of organizing the track, such as: the task, the data collection
(copyright issues, etc.), the queries, the ground truth, the experimental
design, the evaluation method, and the procedural aspects, writing the final
paper in collaboration with the contestants, and submitting it.

Spatially Integrated Abstraction of Genetic Molecules

We look for candidates for a fully-funded PhD position that takes place
within a scientific initiative of studying, understanding, and formalizing
visual abstractions. By considering abstraction as a general transformation
from data into meaningful visual stimuli, the project will address aspects
of geometric abstraction, illumination abstraction, abstraction in terms of
levels of detail, or other relevant aspects of visualization. In particular,
this PhD work should focus on visual abstractions that are meaningful in
context of studying DNA macromolecular structural composition and its
organization into higher-level structures up to chromosomes.

We are pleased to announce the 13th Workshop on Virtual Reality Interaction
and Physical Simulation VRIPHYS 2017. The workshop will take place in Lyon
on April 23-24, 2017. It is organized in cooperation with EG.
For this edition, the format slightly change, as the workshop will be
co-located for the first time with EuroGraphics2017 (April 24-28, 2017)!
VRIPHYS is one of the well-established international conferences in the
field of computer animation and virtual reality. The workshop provides an
opportunity for researches in virtual reality and computer animation to

Paper submissions in PDF should be formatted according to the EG publication
style, and the EG exclusive licence form has to be filled, following the

Submissions must be anonymous, should be written in English and should not
exceed 10 pages. We encourage the submission of supplementary videos to
particularly illustrate dynamic aspects of a submission. All materials will
be submitted electronically through the SRM portal before January 31, 2017.

All submissions will be reviewed by three members of the International
Program Committee. Accepted papers will be presented at the workshop. A full
proceedings with all accepted papers will be published in the EG Digital
Library at the time of the workshop.

Best papers award

The "best papers Award" will be given to the author(s) of full papers
presented at the conference, selected by the Committee. The authors of the
best papers will be invited to submit an extended version to the journal
Computers & Graphics, for publication in a Virtual Special Issue (VSI).
