"Defining an International Curriculum in Computer Graphics"
September 9, 2006, Vienna, Austria
Sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH and Eurographics
We invite you to participate in the 2006 edition of the Computer
Graphics Education Workshop. Our aim is to define an international
curriculum in Computer Graphics which respects the Bologna
requirements (EU) and reflects the international nature of the
computer graphics education workshops to date.
This one-day workshop will be held in conjunction with the
Eurographics 2006 conference in Vienna, Austria. This workshop will
continue the sequence of computer graphics education workshops over
the last few years. These workshops and links to their reports are:
- 1999 Coimbra:
http://www.siggraph.org/education/conferences/GVE99/papers/GVE.FullReport.p…
- 2002 Bristol: http://www.siggraph.org/education/bristol/bristol.htm
- 2004 Hangzhou:
http://www.siggraph.org/symposia/reports/Rep2004CGEworkshop.pdf
We welcome the participation of persons interested in and committed to
computer graphics education. Participation will be on the basis of
accepted position papers. Each position paper should:
- be two to four pages long (standard single-spaced text),
- have a single author,
- describe the author's view on or experience with a topic that fits
the theme of the workshop,
- be submitted electronically, to one of the workshop co-chairs,
before April 28, 2006.
They will be reviewed by the workshop's organizing committee and
additional reviewers as needed, and invitations are expected to be
extended by June 9, 2006. We expect to limit the number of
participants to 30-40.
The workshop will include lunch, coffee breaks, and there will be a
registration fee of 40 Euros to cover the expenses for these.
We encourage anyone interested in the workshop to consider attending
the education programme at the Eurographics 06 conference whose
announcement is at
http://www.cg.tuwien.ac.at/events/EG06/education.php

In cooperation with ACM SIGGRAPH, ACM SIGWEB, EUROGRAPHICS, CUSO, and INTUITION EU Network of Excellence
Cyberworlds are information worlds being formed on Internet either intentionally or spontaneously, with or without design. As information worlds, they are either virtual or real, and can be both. In terms of information modelling, the theoretical ground for the Cyberworlds is far above the level of integrating spatial database models and temporal database models. This conference will deal with large distributed information worlds on Internet as well as methods and tools used for creating such worlds.
CONFERENCE TOPICS
The conference topics include but are not limited to the following areas.
- Philosophy, Evolution, and Ethics of Cyberworlds
- Cyberworlds and their impact on the real worlds
- Cyberethics and Cyberlaws
- Cybersecurity
- Visual Cyberworlds
- Human animation in Cyberworlds
- Virtual Reality in Cyberworlds
- Computer vision and augmented reality for Cyberworlds
- Intelligent agents in Cyberworlds
- Communication in Cyberworlds
- Distributed virtual environments
- Shared virtual worlds
- Data mining and warehousing in Cyberworlds
- Bioinformatics for Cyberlife and medicine
- Healthcare in Cyberworlds
- Cyberworlds for bioengineering
- Cyberinformation systems
- E-business in Cyberworlds
- Cyberworlds for education
- Collaborative work using Cyberworlds
- Cyberworlds for manufacturing
- Cyber fairs and Cyber museums
- Multi-user web games
CW2006 will provide an opportunity for scientists, engineers, and researchers from around the world to share the latest research, ideas, and developments in these fields. The conference will consist of formal paper sessions and hands-on demonstrations where research groups and vendors will show the state-of-the-art in the field.

Santiago de Compostela is mainly a monumental town, a stony miracle which
has been shaped around the Apostle St James's sepulchre along the
centuries, and which has resulted in one of the most splendid and harmonic
architectural ensembles in the world. Considered to be one of the three
spiritual capitals of Christendom together with Rome and Jerusalem, from
the Middle Ages it became the goal of religious pilgrimages, a phenomenon
that would give birth to the pilgrims' Road to Santiago, the real spine of
the art and the thought from which, as Goethe said, the idea of Europe
would be born.
The conference venue will be the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, at
the Escola Técnica Superior de Enxeñería (Rúa Lope Gómez de Marzoa,
15782-Santiago de Compostela)

IV Conference on Articulated Motion and Deformable Objects (AMDO-e 2006)
Andratx, Mallorca, Spain
11-14 July, 2006
http://dmi.uib.es/amdo2006
amdo(a)uib.es
The International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), the Spanish Association for Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis (AERFAI) and the Mathematics and Computer Science Department of UIB are organising the fourth international conference AMDO Evolution 2006 that will take place in Puerto de Andratx, Mallorca. This conference is the natural evolution of the AMDO2004 workshop. The new goal of this conference is to promote interaction and collaboration among researchers working directly in the areas covered by the main tracks. The new perceptual user interfaces and the emerging technologies increase the relation between areas involved with human-computer interaction. The new perspective of the AMDO-e 2006 conference will be to strengthen the relationship between the many areas that have as key point the study of the human body using computer technologies as the main tool.
It is a great opportunity to encourage links between research in the areas of computer vision, computer graphics, advanced multimedia applications and multimodal interfaces that share common problems and frequently use similar techniques or tools. In this particular edition the related topics are divided in several parallel tracks, including the topics above proposed.
The AMDO-e 2006 will consist in three days of lecture sessions, both regular and invited presentations, a poster session and international tutorials.
TOPICS INCLUDE (but not restricted to):
Track 1: Computer Graphics (Human Modelling & Animation)
Track 2: Human Motion (Analysis, Tracking, 3D Reconstruction & Recognition)
Track 3: Multimodal User Interaction (VR & AR, Speech, Biometrics)
Track 4: Advanced Multimedia Systems (Standards, Indexed Video Contents)
PAPER SUBMISSION AND REVIEW PROCESS
Papers should describe original and unpublished work about the above or closely related topics. Please submit your paper electronically at out website using the software provided. All submissions should be in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format and LNCS Springer Style. The AMDO-e 2006 secretariat must receive your paper before the February 15, 2006.
Please use this address to upload your papers: http://servidorgyv.uib.es/starts/AMDO06/
Up to 10 A4 pages will be considered. All papers submitted will be subjected to a blind review process by at least three members of the program committee. The initial paper must not provide names and affiliation, and should include a title, a 150-word abstract, keywords and paper manuscript. Accepted papers will appear in the international proceedings (LNCS Springer-Verlag) that will be published and distributed to all participants at the conference. For more details and news, visit our web page (see URL above).
N.B. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to a full register and to present the communication at the conference, if accepted.
