ideas and concepts. Topics for submissions include but are not
limited to the following areas:
* Solutions and algorithms for virtual/augmented reality applications
* Interactive visualisation
* User interfaces for visualisation
* Methods and tools for virtual product realization
* Robust design and variation simulation
* Training and simulation
* Real-time rendering methods
* Systems and software architectures
* Experimental studies of existing methods and techniques
* Procedural methods and texture synthesis
Instructions to the authors
Submissions may be full papers or short papers.
Full papers should not exceed 10 pages in length. Short papers,
describing novel ideas, work-in-progress and/or recent results,
should be no longer than 4 pages. Note that both types of submissions
must be formatted according to the same recommended style
mentioned below, and all accepted papers will be published in the
Proceedings of the conference.
Authors are requested to submit their paper by September 30th, 2009
by email to submissions2009(a)sigrad.se. The subject of the email
should be "SIGRAD submission". Authors experiencing problems with
electronic submission of contributions should contact the conference
chair directly. The submission email should contain the names and
institutions of all authors, contact information of one contact
author (name, e-mail and phone), and the title and abstract of the
submission.
Use the guidelines and layout found in the SIGGRAPH author
instructions (http://www.siggraph.org/publications/instructions/

SYMPOSIUM ON APPLIED PERCEPTION IN GRAPHICS AND VISUALIZATION (APGV)
sponsored by ACM Siggraph
in co-operation with Eurographics
September 30 - October 2 2009 Chania, Crete, Greece http://www.apgv.org
**** See the recently posted program here:
http://www.apgv.org/Program.html ****
The Symposium on Applied Perception in Graphics and Visualization (APGV)
is an emerging and vital forum for the dissemination of the latest
research results at the intersection of computer graphics and perception
science. The general goals of the symposium are to use insights from
perception to advance the design of methods for visual, auditory and
haptic representation, and to use computer graphics to enable perceptual
research that would otherwise not be possible. In addition to providing
a place to communicate new results, APGV serves to foster interaction
among researchers in this interdisciplinary area and to discuss emerging
directions in the field.
The papers and posters cover a wide range of topics. We have classified
the papers into six categories, corresponding to the sessions:
. Virtual Environments
. Realistic Humans
. Displays and Visualization.
. Animation and Transitions
. Rendering and Illumination
. Textures
Tutorials and Panels cover the following topics:
Tutorial 1: Visualization as Tool to Minimize Possible Negative
Automation Consequences.
Tutorial 2: Perception Research in Virtual Reality Panel: Cutting Edge
Problems in Virtual Environments
