Geometric Modeling and Processing (GMP) 2023 will be co-located in Genova with the Symposium on Geometry Processing (SGP), the Symposium on Solid and Physical Modeling (SPM), the SIAM Conference on Computational Geometric Design (SIAM GD), and Shape Modeling International (SMI) as part of the International Geometry Summit 2023.
GMP is an annual international conference series on geometric modeling, simulation, and computing. The modeling and processing of geometric data is fundamental to many computer applications, including computer graphics, computer vision, CAD/CAM, medical imaging, engineering analysis, robotics, additive manufacturing, and scientific computing. The GMP conference series provides researchers and practitioners with a forum for exchanging new ideas, discussing new applications, and presenting new solutions. The organizers of GMP 2023 invite submissions of full-length papers on topics including, but not limited, to:

PAPER SUBMISSION
The official language of the conference is English and manuscripts must be written in English. The submitted papers should present previously unpublished, original results that are not simultaneously submitted elsewhere. All papers will be rigorously peer-reviewed by members of the international program committee of GMP. The review process will be double-blind.

PUBLICATIONS
Accepted full-length papers will be published in a special issue of Computer-Aided Geometric Design (CAGD, Elsevier). To meet the high standards of this journal, papers will undergo a two-stage review process. Authors of papers that are determined to be acceptable with minor revisions during the first review cycle will be invited to submit a revised version for the second review cycle. Only the papers that are accepted in this second review cycle will appear in the journal issue and be presented at the conference.

Although deep learning has conquered the field of perception algorithms and is today omnipresent, strong limitations of conventional systems are that they operate in 2D and use a fixed training dataset.
The goal of your project will be to advance state-of-the-art machine perception algorithms by lifting the representation to 3D and enabling the systems to increase their knowledge from continuously incoming unlabeled data. To this end, you will be developing deep learning-based models that can reason about their own knowledge and combining those models with state-of-the-art 3D reconstruction techniques. Your work will involve 3D reconstruction, physical light transport models, uncertainty estimation and continual learning and connect to natural language processing, reinforcement learning and fundamental research.
The positions target publications on CVPR, ECCV, ICCV and NeurIPS and will set you up for an outstanding career in academia or industry. The research is highly relevant for the future of AI and the practical use of your research will be for 3D scene understanding, contextual AI, virtual shopping and visual search. VisGap - The Gap between Visualization Research and Visualization Software

Over the years, many visualization methods and tools have been developed and published by the visualization research community. However, most of these are prototypes and never reach a state that can be reliably used by the target audience, e.g., domain scientists. Also, availability of these prototypes as source code or at least as executables is still the exception rather than the norm. The VisGap workshop aims to shed light on this gap between research and practical applicability, examine the obstacles every researcher faces, and propose solutions to overcome this problem as a community.
VisGap'23 aims at gathering experts from all over the visualization community in order to advance the way our field works with software, sustains software, and values the effort our members put into developing said software.
Following the scheme of EGPGV, VisGap'23 has two submission deadlines: early submission in mid-December and regular submission in early March. This gives authors the flexibility to choose between the two submission deadlines. The early submission deadline also allows authors improving their manuscripts and resubmitting them to the regular deadline in case they are not successful in the early review stage, similar to a major revision.
We solicit papers with 4-8 pages, with one additional page allowed for references. All submissions must be original works that have not been published previously in any conference proceedings, magazine, journal, or edited book, or must present a substantial extension of previous work (at least 30%). Papers must be submitted through PCS (https://new.precisionconference.com/). All submissions will undergo a single-blind, single-stage peer review process. Accepted papers will be published by the Eurographics Association, and be stored in the Eurographics Digital Library. At least one author of each accepted paper must register and participate in the VisGap'23 workshop to present their work.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Requirements for successful visualization in applications in general
- Domain-specific requirements for visualizations
- Reflections on the research community and the visualization software ecosystem
- Incentives and funding for developing/maintaining visualization research software
- Legal requirements (e.g., licensing, certification) for visualizations in applications

The Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona is looking for postdocs to work in a project dealing with the simulation of virtual crowds in outdoor scenes and their impact on hiking paths and terrain degradation, through computer graphics and VR solutions. This project is coordinated by the ViRVIG group http://www.virvig.eu/
The project involves a large range of topics such as: procedural modeling (automatic generation of hiking networks with semantic information and navigation meshes for complex uneven terrain), pathfinding and navigation in such terrains (pathfinding and route selection adapted to agents' abilities, planning of navigation in difficult sections, Reinforcement Learning for individual route selection), analysis of collections of trajectories (real or simulated), and simulation and rendering of anthropogenic degradation effects (trail erosion, litter, and other traces of passage).

We are offering two postdocs positions to work on two main goals: (1) virtual human path finding and (2) modeling of terrain degradation. We are looking for candidates with experience on some of the following topics: reinforcement learning, crowd simulation, path finding, geometric algorithms, procedural modeling, simulation of natural phenomena, virtual reality, and computer graphics.
Candidates should hold a PhD in computer science, physics, mathematics, or some engineering discipline. Candidates should have a track record of publications in computer graphics, virtual reality, and/or animation. The following skills will be valued:
