Welcome to the joint virtual conferences, Eurographics & Eurovis 2020 (EGEV 2020)
Norrköping, Sweden, May 25-29, 2020
Dear colleagues, co-workers, and friends,
As you will all be aware, we are in the final steps towards the EuroGraphics and EuroVis conference 2020 (EGEV 2020), held in virtual Norrköping this year. Due to the current outbreak of Covid-19, we needed to switch the conference from a physical concept into a virtual conference instead. The organizing committee participated in other conferences that have “gone virtual” this season and we learned a lot from their experiences. The switch to a virtual conference means a number of changes for the presenters, chairs, and, the audience. One of the biggest changes is that contrary to previous years, the conference will be entirely free for attendees.
You can find more information about the conference and a program here (https://egev2020.se). All of the sessions of this event-packed week will be streamed on the EGEV2020 YouTube channel (http://youtube.egev2020.se) audience can follow along and ask questions to the presenters and interact with each other.
Another common hub for creating the “conference feeling” will this year be Discord, for which you can sign up for free and join here (https://discord.gg/nTQwrp4). Discord is a widely used communications platform that supports multiple parallel discussion streams, both text and voice, and will allow the serendipitous “running into someone in the hallway” moments that add to every conference. We strongly recommend you to sign into the Discord server and participate as much as possible throughout the week to try and avoid the experience of “just watching videos”. For the Discord we recommend everyone to use their proper name however they see fit as a large portion of the interaction will be through this platform and seeing familiar names will make it easier to create these serendipitous encounters.
We, the conference organizers, have worked hard to create the facilities to enable a conference feeling for all attendees even in these difficult times, but we cannot create this feeling without all of your help and we believe that all of us together can make this years Eurographics and EuroVis conference a very enjoyable and interactive experience.
Conference Structure
As you can see from the program, the conference is still organized by sessions/tracks, with up to 8 parallel sessions. Each session will be showing in a separate YouTube stream on the EGEV 2020 YouTube channel here (http://youtube.egev2020.se). The session chair collects questions from the YouTube chat and the appropriate Discord channel during the presentation and will ask the question to the presenters at the end of the presentation. To minimize internet dangers, all presentations will be streamed from a prerecorded video file, but the presenters will be online during their talks and answer questions on the stream in a Q&A session live after the presentation.
Social events are organized this year through a combination of Zoom and YouTube streaming. Information about the individual events is available on the webpage. We have had some great ideas that people will truly enjoy. Participants of Eurographics 2010 can surely think of a few things that might happen again.

MolVA- Workshop on Molecular Graphics and Visual Analysis of Molecular Data
Molecular visualization and graphics is one of the oldest branches of scientific visualization, which has been developing for over 50 years. Due to the continuous advances in both computational biology and computer graphics techniques, molecular graphics and visualization are very active areas of research. Not only the ever-increasing dataset sizes yield a constant challenge for visual analysis, but also new technologies like advances in web-based graphics or augmented and virtual reality open new possibilities.
This half-day multidisciplinary workshop – which is held in conjunction with Eurovis for the third time and with Eurographics for the first time – brings together visualization and computer graphics researchers working with molecular data. Whereas molecular graphics is an established topic for many years, the hybrid-dimensional visual analysis of molecular structures is still a quite new research field with a lot of potential. We would like to encourage submissions especially using new technologies, such as immersive analytics or ML-related approaches.
We invite short papers as well as full papers. All papers will undergo a single-stage, double-blind peer review by an international program committee. Accepted papers will be published in the EG digital library.

EG VCBM 2020 - Call for Papers
10th Eurographics Workshop on Visual Computing for Biology and Medicine 2020 in Tübingen, Germany (co-located with DAGM GCPR 2020 & VMV 2020)
[[[ Given the developing COVID-19 situation it is unclear yet if the conference can take place in a physical format. We will turn to a virtual format if needed. We encourage authors to submit work to VCBM even if they do not think they will be able or willing to attend in person due to the virus situation and/or potential travel restrictions. ]]]
* Workshop Dates: September 28 - October 1, 2020
* Submission Deadline: July 10, 2020
--- Aims and Scope ---
EG VCBM (http://www.vcbm.org/), the Eurographics Workshop on Visual Computing for Biology and Medicine, is an annual event addressing the state of the art in visual computing research with a strong focus on applications in biology and medicine. It provides an interdisciplinary forum for experts (researchers and practitioners) from visualization, visual analytics, computer graphics, image processing, computer vision, human computer interfaces as well as experts from biology and medicine, jointly working on next generation visual computing solutions for medicine, healthcare and the biotechnology sector. This year's workshop (already the 10th VCBM since its foundation in 2008) will be held from September 28 to October 1, 2020, in Tübingen, Germany. EG VCBM 2020 will be held together with VMV (the International Symposium on Vision, Modeling, and Visualization), and DAGM GCPR (the German Conference on Pattern Recognition).
EG VCBM solicits the submission of original, application-oriented research papers that advance the fusion of visual computing methods within medicine and biology. All papers (regular papers as well as short papers) should focus on a well-defined biological/medical problem, and demonstrate a significant innovation or improvement in visual computing.
Suggested topics for full and short papers include, but are not limited to:
* Visual computing solutions for medical applications like radiology, surgery, pathology, cardiology, nephrology, neurology, etc., including medical education
* Visual computing solutions for applications that support biomedical research in systems biology, *omics research, molecular pathology, neuroanatomy, biomedical imaging, etc.
* Operation room of the future, including the uses of virtual reality and augmented reality in medical applications.
* Visualization approaches for data from new or challenging imaging modalities including real-time imaging (e.g., ultrasound)
* Visual computing solutions in the context of the virtual physiological human. Medical simulation and visual computing solutions that support new approaches in computational medicine.
* Visual analytics solutions for data coming from epidemiological studies, like population studies.
In addition to that, we solicit:
* Survey papers on visual computing in biology and medicine
--- Information for Authors ---
In addition to full-length papers, there will be again a short papers track and a survey track, encouraging scientific contributions from an even more diverse group of researchers and practitioners. All VCBM 2020 papers (full, short and surveys) will be peer-reviewed and will appear in the Eurographics Digital Library.
We encourage the use of digital videos to support all submissions, particularly if part of, or all of the work covers interactive techniques. Please use only the most common video codecs such as MP4 to maximize the chances that the reviewers can view it.
* Full Papers: We do not impose strict maximum lengths for submitted papers to the full papers track. However, it is unusual for papers to exceed 10 pages (in CGF latex style including all images and references). Papers should only be as long as their content would justify. Reviewers might rate a submission lower if it is perceived as being unnecessarily long or might recommend it for a short paper, instead. Authors are encouraged to use supplementary material, such as videos or executable programs to provide extra content.
* Short Papers: Short papers describe a more focused and concise research contribution and are likely to have a smaller - yet significant - scope of contribution. Potential examples include the presentation of initial results from novel ongoing research projects or the exploration of new application areas. Short papers draw from the same list of topics as full papers. Their length is limited to a total of 5 pages (including references).
* Surveys: We do not impose strict maximum lengths for submitted papers to the surveys track. However, it is unusual for surveys to exceed 20 pages (in CGF latex style including all images and references). Authors are encouraged to use supplementary material, such as videos, to provide extra content.
VCBM 2020 will also feature a poster and an image contest program, the details of which will be announced in a separate call.
--- Submission Instructions ---
Papers can be submitted using the Eurographics SRM conference management system: https://srmv2.eg.org/COMFy/Conference/VCBM_2020
More information on the preparation of your submissions will also be available on the VCBM 2020 website: http://www.vcbm.org/

(FASE), which is going to be co-located with Shape Modeling International
(SMI) and
The Symposium on Solid and Physical Modeling (SPM). The submission deadline
is 27/04 and the call for papers is below in this email for your reference.
We are looking forward to see your submissions.
If you have any questions regarding submissions, topics or suitability of
your research, please let us know and we would be happy to discuss it.
Call for Papers
The Fabrication and Sculpting Event (FASE) presents original research at the
intersection of theory and practice in shape modeling, fabrication, and
sculpting. FASE focuses on the practical problems of generating shapes and
specifically addresses the interplay of theory and practice. FASE invites
practitioners who have inspiring ideas to contribute their work concerned
with techniques to design, sculpt and fabricate shapes. The work with clear
algorithmic or mathematical aspects along with practical applications such
as digital heritage is particularly desired.
Topics
FASE solicits papers that pose new questions and motivate further research
in designing, fabrication, and sculpting. Topics should be useful, for
example, in the following areas:
(1) Fabrication of digital models,
(2) Advanced manufacturing techniques such as additive manufacturing, laser
cutting or CNC milling,
(3) Interactive or procedural design of manufacturable shapes,
(4) Interconnections of complex modeling and fabrication processes,
(5) Visually stimulating fabrication techniques or printed structures.
Submissions
All FASE paper submissions will be handled via the easy-chair system
following a one-stage peer review cycle. Accepted FASE papers will be
published in a special issue of the Hyperseeing magazine. FASE paper
presentations will be 15 minutes in length. They will be presented in a
special FASE session at the SMI 2020. Accepted papers and posters must be
presented in person by registering the SMI conference.
Location
SMI'FASE 2020 will be co-located with the Shape Modeling International (SMI
2020) and the Symposium on Solid and Physical Modeling (SPM 2020) and will
take place from June 2nd to 4th. Important notice to all attendees: SMI 2020
will be organized as a teleconference due to the coronavirus outbreak. The
conference program will be exactly the same as in previous years; it will
include paper presentations, keynote talks, and several workshops but
everything will be done using remote conferencing services. All attendees
will participate in the conference remotely with video/audio and slide
sharing; there will be no on-site participation.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another
journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
* Full papers describing methods in detail with a limit of 16 pages.
* Short papers describing methods in less detail with a limit of 8
pages.
* Posters describing methods in much less detail with a limit of 4
pages.
Important Dates
* April 24, 2020 :: Abstract Submission Due

CALL FOR POSTERS
SPM 2020/SMI 2020
The Symposium on Solid and Physical Modeling (SPM 2020) will be co-located with the Shape Modeling International (SMI 2020) this year. SPM and SMI 2020 will be hosted at the University of Strasbourg. Both the conferences aim at all aspects of geometric and physical modeling, and their application in design, analysis, and manufacturing, as well as in biomedical, geophysical, digital entertainment, and other areas.
The combined SPM and SMI conferences seek poster submissions, which describe recent work, highly relevant results of work-in-progress, or successful systems and applications, in all areas related to:
* Solid and physical modelling;
* Computational geometric design;
* Shape modelling and analysis;
* Geometric modelling and processing.
Presenting a poster is an important way to get feedback on work that has not yet been published. Poster presentations will be an integral part of the combined SPM and SMI conferences, with a joint poster session for interactive discussion between presenters and attendees, including a fast-forward presentation track, where authors will orally present a summary of their work to all attendees. We require at least one presenter per accepted poster to attend either the SPM or the SMI conferences.
Submission Guidelines
Poster submissions must be in English and include authors’ names, affiliation, and contact. The submission must be in the form of a two/four-page abstract, as a PDF file with embedded fonts, and must be formatted according to the LATEX guidelines available <https://smi2020.sciencesconf.org/data/Poster_Template.zip> here. For more details, please refer to the <https://smi2020.sciencesconf.org/resource/page/id/8> poster submission website.
Poster abstracts must be submitted to <mailto:spm2020.posters@gmail.com> spm2020.posters(a)gmail.com. Additional materials are not mandatory, but can be shared as a DropBox link or sent by using common FTP services, which can aid in assessing the quality of the work. The Two/four-page abstracts will be included in the Poster proceedings. Final posters must be in portrait format with a maximum size given by the A0 standard (841 x 1189 mm, or 33.1 x 46.8 in).
