EG2020 short papers call

Call for Short Papers Authors are invited to submit short papers [4 pages max] which present self-contained and complete works in all areas related to computer graphics, such as rendering, modelling, visualisation, animation, simulation, virtual reality, computer vision, computer-aided design, digital fabrication and imaging. We particularly invite submissions which present tangible and practically useful improvements to the state of the art, but which are not thematically wide enough to justify an entire full paper. What we would like to see as short papers are individual smart ideas and intriguing findings that might otherwise remain unpublished, due to them standing in isolation - as opposed to falling within the context of some larger scientific endeavour, where they can be easily mentioned in the corresponding publication. Accepted short papers will be published in the Short Papers digital media proceedings and in the Eurographics Digital Library. Authors of accepted papers will be expected to present their work as an oral presentation at the conference. In 3D however, there is nothing … yet. The main task is to extend existing or develop new color management workflows for photogrammetry and other techniques of 3D digitization, towards a unified and standardized pipeline establishing a faithful correspondence between the virtual 3D representation of an object and its physical appearance. The candidate will closely collaborate with other international fellows within a European research project in order to build a bridge from physical object acquisition to its virtual representation and subsequently to its color-calibrated, 3D printed replica. Expected results The fellow is expected to: * develop automated color-calibration workflows for autonomous 3D digitization technologies. * publish relevant scientific research papers and reports. * participate in standardization efforts of the color-science community for 3D color calibration. The successful candidate will be able to support our strong interdisciplinary reasearch on real-time interactive systemd in virtual reality through work on the recognition or interpretations of interaction-related multimodal user signals or behavior, e.g., facial expressions, gesture, gaze, attention, emtion. The successful candidate will be expected to participate actively in the interdisciplinary research center "Cognitive Interaction Technology" (CITEC) at Bielefeld University, and should be open to interdisciplinary cooperation within the department and the university. Candidates are expected to have strong teaching capabilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to provide lectures in basic computer science as well as in their specialized topics. They should participate actively in the development of the bachelor, master, and PhD programs in computer science and interactive Intelligent systems. Appointment requires a university degree and a qualified PhD in a relevant subject as well as pedagogical aptitude.
