Originally called "Eurographics Medical Prize", the competition was renamed to "Dirk Bartz Prize for Visual Computing in Medicine" in 2010 -- in honor of Dirk Bartz who passed away far too early in March 2010. Dirk Bartz was a highly recognized and enthusiastic scientist, teacher and promoter of Visual Computing in Medicine; furthermore, he was an active member of the Eurographics Association and Chair of the EG Medical Prize in 2007 and 2009. == Call == Submissions to the Dirk Bartz Prize for Visual Computing in Medicine 2019 are being invited from researchers and developers who can demonstrate that a particular benefit in a medical application has resulted from the use of visual computing technology that they have produced/developed. We welcome submissions from all areas of visual computing -- examples include the use of new data visualization techniques, interaction methods, or virtual/augmented environments. Dear colleagues, we are inviting applications for a fully funded PhD scholarship at Computer Science Department, Liverpool John Moores University, UK on Virtual Stroke Simulator. A serious game in a form of a training package for healthcare workers involved in the care of acute stroke patients. The proposed virtual stroke simulator will be built on a spectrum of information acquired by a detailed literature search, input from clinical studies, and through discussions with clinical neurologists. We will use a standardised approach to build the simulator based on our clinical protocols at SRFT and international structured rating scales of stroke severity and inclusion/exclusion criteria for the various treatments of stroke. The result will be a highly-realistic graphical and audio system which will provide the appropriate behavioural response to any of a predetermined user inputs and will consider different situations that may come during the neurological procedures. The key research question this project will address is: How the quality and multi-modal nature of the virtual simulator in a form of serious games can make a significant difference to the level of engagement of the user (healthcare professional (s)), and his/her/their learning curve in training for the management of patients with acute stroke. Also, a new wave of information is underway: low-cost 3D scanners, 3D printers, and powerful modelling software have made 3D models appeal to an increasing audience. Repositories of 3D objects are rapidly growing in both number and size. Yet, the task of exploring such large 3D repositories and retrieving the models of interest remains a challenging problem. It is crucial to develop algorithms for content-based searching of 3D object collections; creating compact and accurate descriptors for 3D objects; creating efficient storage structures for databases of 3D objects; investigating theoretical aspects of practical importance, such as the definition of the similarity concept; interfaces for content-based 3D object search; visualization techniques for 3D search results; real time aspects of techniques and algorithms; new challenges such as faceted 3D browsing, social search, and navigation of hybrid datasets. The complex yet concrete problems above are drawing increasing attention from the research community. The aim of the 3DOR Workshop series is to stimulate researchers from different fields such as Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, Cognitive Science and Human-Computer Interaction who work on or are interested in 3D object retrieval search and exploration, to present state-of-the-art work in the field or learn about it and participate in discussions. This 30th (anniversary!) event continues the series of highly successful Eurographics Symposia and Workshops on Rendering. New this year, a single submission track is proposed: all accepted research papers will be presented at EGSR 2019 and archived as publications in the <https://diglib.eg.org/> Eurographics digital library (exact publication modalities pending). Furthermore, a selection of them will be published in an issue of the <https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/14678659> Computer Graphics Forum (CGF) journal, based on both the recommendations of the reviewers and the outcome of a second cycle of review. We are looking for work that shapes the future of rendering in computer graphics and related fields. In particular, we would like to emphasize that the conference is not exclusively about rendering, and encourage submissions in the related topics such as virtual/augmented reality, deep learning, 3D fabrication, and computational photography. There is no fixed minimum or maximum paper length. However, submissions over 12 pages in length will be treated as exceptional cases, and length must be proportional to contribution. For each submitted paper, a minimum of 3 reviews will be provided to the authors, who will then be able to enter a rebuttal to clarify misunderstandings and answer the reviewers questions. The reviewers will then discuss and decide on the acceptance of the paper to the EGSR 2019 program. In this case, the authors will submit a revised version of their manuscript prior to the conference. Workshop on Molecular Graphics and Visual Analysis of Molecular Data (co-located with EuroVis 2019), June 3, 2019, Porto, Portugal ************************************************************************ Molecular visualization is one of the oldest branches of scientific visualization, which has been developing for over 50 years. Due to the continuous advances in both computational biology and computer graphics techniques, molecular graphics and visualization are still very active areas of research. Not only the ever-increasing dataset sizes yield a constant challenge for visual analysis, but also new technologies like advances in web-based graphics or augmented and virtual reality open new possibilities. In this half-day workshop, which is held for the second time in conjunction with EuroVis, we would like to initiate a multidisciplinary meeting which brings visualization researchers together working with molecular data. Whereas molecular graphics is an established topic for many years, the hybrid-dimensional visual analysis of molecular structures is still a quite new research field with a lot of potential. We would like to encourage submissions especially using new technologies, such as immersive analytics-related approaches. We invite short papers as well as full papers (2-4 pages for short and up to 8 pages for full papers, both with an additional page reserved for references). All papers will undergo a single-stage, double-blind peer review process. Accepted papers will be published in the EG digital library. The workshop will be held in Porto, Portugal, June 3, 2019, as part of EuroVis 2019. <http://www.semantic3d.org/workshop> The 1st Eurographics-EuroVR Workshop on Semantic 3D Content (Semantic 3D 2019), sponsored by the EuroVR Association, will address an extensive range of research, development, and practice related to the use of the semantic web for representation, creation, visualization and maintenance of 3D content and animations. The goal of the workshop is to share innovative and creative ideas that enable development of semantic 3D applications for a wide range of 3D environments, including the web, mobile as well as virtual and augmented reality (VR & AR) setups. Works related to various application domains, including e-commerce, education, cultural heritage, entertainment and infotainment, social media, tourism, medicine, military, industry and construction (and many others) are welcome. The approaches will be considered in the context of building scalable, pervasive 3D/VR/AR systems using different semantic web (e.g., RDF, RDFS and OWL) and rule-based standards, 3D formats and browsers. Finally, common fields of interest and opportunities of future collaboration will be identified and discussed. The workshop attempts to foster and support the increasing development, use, and utility of semantic 3D technologies for researchers, application developers, domain experts as well as for end users. This includes semantic creation of interactive 3D content, robust and versatile semantic 3D content representation and delivery standards as well as semantic presentation and interaction techniques enabling development of user-friendly 3D/VR/AR applications. Call for Papers - CASA 2019 in Paris, France The 32th International Conference on Computer Animation and Social Agents (CASA 2019) will be held on July 1-3, 2019 in Paris, France. The conference is organized by Sorbonne (France), in cooperation with ACM-SIGGRAPH and EUROGRAPHICS, under guidance of the Computer Graphics Society (CGS). CASA was founded in 1988 in Geneva, Switzerland, and it is the oldest international conference in computer animation and social agents in the world.
