3D Object Retrieval Workshop Series
From the very beginning, the aim of the 3DOR Workshop series is to stimulate
researchers to present state-of-the-art work, learn about or discuss topics
in the field 3D object retrieval, search and exploration in a
multi-disciplinary context of expertise such as Computer Vision, Computer
Graphics, Machine Learning, Cognitive Science and Human-Computer
Interaction. 3DOR provides a cross-fertilization that will stimulate
discussions on the next steps in this important research area. 3DOR 2021
will be the 14th workshop in this series.
Search engines are now the default way in which most people engage with
information, as the vast majority of information is born digital. 3D digital
content is today pervasive: low-cost 3D scanners, 3D printers, and powerful
modelling software have made 3D models appeal to an increasing audience.
Repositories of 3D objects are rapidly growing in both number and size.
Time-dependant acquisition, animation and simulation give rise to 3D objects
as a function of time, yielding 4D objects. Yet, the task of exploring such
large 3D/4D object repositories and retrieving the models of interest
remains a challenging problem. It is crucial to develop algorithms for
content-based searching of 3D object collections; creating compact and
accurate descriptors for 3D objects; creating efficient storage structures
for databases of 3D objects; investigating theoretical aspects of practical
importance, such as the definition of the similarity concept; interfaces for
content-based 3D object search; visualization techniques for 3D search
results; real time aspects of techniques and algorithms; new challenges such
as faceted 3D browsing, social search and navigation of hybrid datasets. The
complex yet concrete problems above are drawing increasing attention from
the research community, which is becoming more and more varied in terms of
disciplines needed to solve various facets of the challenges.
The 3DOR Workshop series has been characterized since the beginning by a
specific attention to benchmarking with the organization of the session on
the 3D Shape Retrieval Contest (SHREC). The general objective of the 3D
Shape Retrieval Contest is to evaluate the effectiveness of 3D-shape
retrieval methods and algorithms. SHREC 2021 is the 16th edition of the
contest. As in previous years, it is organized in conjunction with the
Eurographics Workshop on 3D Object Retrieval. Results papers from SHREC
tracks will be reviewed in a two stage-review process, like regular full
papers (see below).
Call for Papers
Authors are invited to submit original and unpublished research and
application papers addressing all areas
of 3D/4D Object Retrieval. State of the art papers on specific topics of

EGPGV 2021 -- Call for Papers
The Eurographics Symposium on Parallel Graphics and Visualization (EGPGV)
aims to foster the exchange of experiences and knowledge on exploiting and
defining new trends in parallel graphics and visualization. This area is of
growing importance due to the rapidly increasing availability of multi-core
CPUs, GPUs, and cluster systems. Computationally demanding and
data-intensive applications in graphics and visualization are strongly
affected by this trend and require novel, efficient parallel solutions.
EGPGV 2021 will take place on June 14, 2021, and be co-located with EuroVis
2021, held June 14-18, 2021, in Zurich, Switzerland.
The proceedings of EGPGV will be published in the Eurographics Proceedings
Series and in the Eurographics Digital Library. Best papers from the EGPGV
symposium will be invited to submit an extended journal version to IEEE
Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics.
EGPGV seeks papers on graphics and visualization that involve any type of
parallel computing, and/or focus on very large data sets. Papers on
techniques, data structures, algorithms, systems, and applications are
welcomed. Parallel computing is broadly defined, including high-performance
computing and cloud environments, (multi-)GPU computing and heterogeneous,
hybrid architectures, and shared and/or distributed memory architectures.
Further, papers focused on processing very large data sets (either for
visualization or graphics) are welcomed, even if they do not have a
particular focus on parallelism.
Typical symposium topics include:
- Computationally and data-intensive rendering
- Scientific visualization (e.g., volume, flow, and tensor visualization)
- Information visualization and visual analytics
- In situ analytics and in situ visualization
- Out-of-core processing of large data sets for visualization or graphics
- Simulations for virtual environments (physics-based animation, collision
detection, acoustics)
- Mesh processing, level-of-detail, and geometric methods
- Visual computing (image- and video-based rendering, image processing and
exploitation, segmentation)
- Scheduling, memory management, and data coherence
- Parallelization approaches and algorithms, such as MapReduce

VisGap - The Gap between Visualization Research and Visualization Software
(co-located with EuroVis 2021) June 14th, 2021, online / Zurich, Switzerland
*******************************************************************************
Over the years, many visualization methods and tools have been developed and published by the visualization research community. However, most of these are prototypes and never reach a state that can be reliably used by the target audience, e.g., domain scientists. Also, availability of these prototypes as source code or at least as executables is still the exception rather than the norm. The VisGap Symposium aims to shed a light on this gap between research and practical applicability, examine the obstacles every researcher faces, and propose solutions to overcome this problem as a community.
VisGap'21 aims at gathering experts from all over the visualization community in order to advance the way our field works with software, sustains software, and values the effort our members put into developing said software.
We solicit papers with 4-8 pages, with an additional page allowed for references. All submissions must be original works that have not been published previously in any conference proceedings, magazine, journal, or edited book or must present a substantial extension of previous work (at least 30%). Papers must be submitted through PCS (https://new.precisionconference.com/). All submissions will undergo a single-blind, single-stage peer review process. Accepted papers will be published by the Eurographics Association, and be stored in the Eurographics Digital Library. At least one author of each accepted paper must register and participate in the VisGap'21 workshop to present their work.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Requirements for successful visualization in applications in general
- Domain-specific requirements for visualizations
- Reflections on the research community and the visualization software ecosystem
- Incentives and funding for developing/maintaining visualization research software
- Legal requirements (e.g., licensing, certification) for visualizations in applications
- Case studies of (un)successful visualization solutions in applications
- Requirements for novel visualization libraries

CALL FOR SHORT PAPERS
Due: March 1, 2021
Notification: April 2, 2021
EuroVis 2021 features a short paper track to present late-breaking results, work in progress, and follow-up extensions or evaluations of existing methods. All accepted short papers (4 pages plus an optional page only with references) will be presented orally at the conference. Please submit your work to the Short Papers program!
A EuroVis short paper describes a more focused and concise research contribution and is likely to have a smaller -- yet still significant -- scope of contribution than a full paper. Short papers draw from the same paper types as full papers, as well as the same list of suggested topics. The following descriptive examples, which are characterized in contrast to full papers, may be helpful in understanding what kinds of submissions may be suitable for short papers:
* A new visualization technique or system and evidence of its utility compared to known techniques or systems (described in sufficient detail to assist an expert reader in replicating the technique or system, but without exhaustive implementation detail and evaluation).
* An incremental improvement or variation of an existing visualization technique or system with convincing evaluation.
* An extensive evaluation of an existing visualization technique or system.
* A well-proven counter-example to an existing visualization technique that helps to understand its limitations.
* A new implementation approach that has demonstrably addressed a significant technical issue (without extensive evaluation of the implementation).
* A new methodology for designing or studying visualization systems that has demonstrable benefits for the EuroVis community (without extensive evaluation of the methodology).
