Computer Graphics & Visual Computing (CGVC) 2023: Call for Papers

CGVC 2023, hosted by Aberystwyth University (Wales, UK), is the 41st annual computer graphics, visualisation, and visual computing conference organised by the Eurographics UK Chapter. The objective of Computer Graphics & Visual Computing (CGVC) is to foster greater exchange between visual computing researchers and practitioners, to welcome more researchers and industry partners in the UK, Europe, and beyond into this rapidly growing area of research. CGVC's scope includes all areas of visual computing, and a steadily more wide-spread visibility that achieves a more wide-spread impact. Submissions are optionally single- or double-blind: authors may choose whether to anonymize their submission or not. Reviewers’ identities are not revealed. All submissions should represent original research or ideas that have not been previously presented or published or published in scientific conferences or published other scientific outlets (pre-publication sites are excepted from this rule), unless it is clear that the submission represents a significant advance over previously published work. Full Papers A full paper submission is up to 8 pages describing completed research, plus 1 page of references only. Papers are refereed by members of the EGUK programme committee. Authors of accepted papers are expected to give a 20-minute presentation at the conference. Accepted papers will appear in the Eurographics digital library and will serve as full paper publications. Short Papers The purpose of short papers is to present late-breaking results, work-in-progress, and follow-up extensions or evaluations of existing methods. Short papers will be peer-reviewed in a one-stage process by an international programme committee. They will be electronically archived and are fully citable publications. Submissions for the short paper track should be at most 4 pages, with an additional page allowed for references. Accepted short papers will be presented orally at the conference in (approximately) 12-15 minute presentations. Viewpoint Papers CGVC also features a viewpoint paper track (also known as position paper) which enables researchers a new possibility to publish their ideas. Viewpoints articles offer detailed opinions, supported by evidence, on trends, novel applications, and new research directions in visual computing. The range of topics is broad but must be anchored in one or more of the conference themes (see below). We are interested in papers by both experienced researchers and early career researchers with novel ideas. For position papers we encourage discussions of challenges or limitations in today's methods and areas of potential new research topics. We are also interested in application discussions that focus on the physical, life or social sciences, engineering, or commerce, for example, or related to the process of visual computing in general. For application papers we encourage an emphasis on lessons learned from practical experience for application discussions, particularly where visual computing has been employed in a real, working environment. Viewpoint papers are submitted with author names and affiliations. Accepted viewpoint papers will be electronically archived, are fully citable publications and will be presented orally at the conference in (approximately) 12-15 minute presentations. Extended Abstracts / Posters The purpose of this track is to present late-breaking results, work in progress, and follow-up extensions or evaluations of existing methods. In particular, it provides young researchers, especially postgraduate students, with valuable opportunities to receive feedback from other researchers, and engage in stimulating discussions. The poster track will be managed by the co-chair team and the International Programme Committee (IPC). We solicit poster submissions in the form of an extended abstract of at most 2 pages (with an additional page allowed for references only). Posters will be peer-reviewed in a one-stage process. Accepted posters will be presented at the poster viewing session of the conference. Your abstract should consist of an introduction, methods and conclusion. Ideally your abstract will include some preliminary results or other evidence of work in progress. In addition to directly submitted posters, some submissions to the full, short and viewpoint paper tracks, that are not accepted for publication but are deemed suitable, will be offered an opportunity to be presented as posters. Such submissions will not require an additional review process. Traditionally, the materials in a poster/extended abstract can be reused later by the original authors for a more extensive publication (i.e., a full paper) with more detailed content and mature results. This should not be considered as self-plagiarism. However, as posters/extended abstracts are citable, researchers are encouraged to acknowledge novel ideas and results presented in posters/extended abstracts. A poster may describe a piece of work in any aspect of visual computing. For posters, we particularly encourage a summary report of collaborative projects, work-in-progress, and application case studies. Accepted abstracts do not appear in the Eurographics digital library. An extended abstract and industrial project abstract are not considered as a paper publication, instead being similar to a SIGGRAPH one-page "Talk" or to a conference poster without an associated paper. As such, presenting an extended abstract at this conference has no effect on your ability to publish a fuller version of the same work in another venue. EuroVis 2023 Call for Posters **Submission Deadline Extended**

Deadline Extension: April 21, 2023 Call for Posters As in previous years, the EuroVis 2023 poster track will present late-breaking results, work in progress, follow-up extensions, application case studies, or evaluations of existing methods. In particular, it provides young researchers, especially postgraduate students, with valuable opportunities to receive feedback from other researchers and engage in stimulating discussions. Due to multiple requests, we have decided to extend the deadline: Important Dates Submission: ** NEW ** April 21, 2023 Notification: May 3, 2023 Camera Ready Version: May 12, 2023 All deadlines are at 23:59 GMT on the date indicated. Submission Instructions We solicit poster submissions in the form of a sketch (i.e., an extended abstract of at most 2 pages in the EuroVis poster format, with an additional page allowed for references only). We strongly encourage the submission of additional materials. For example, you can submit an additional PDF (without any page limit) that contains a number of example results, screenshots, an interaction sequence, etc. The poster draft can also be added as additional material (but is not mandatory for the submission). Finally, submissions can also include supplementary material such as videos or executable programs. In particular for interactive tools/approaches, a digital video is essential and thus strongly encouraged to allow the reviewers to assess the interactive aspects. Any accepted posters are required to have at least one (paid) registered author to attend and present the poster at the conference. Authors of accepted posters will also be required to present a brief (less than one minute) summary of their poster content at the opening preview session (also called fast-forward). Both a PDF version of the poster and the extended abstract will be included on the conference USB stick and also in the EG digital library with a DOI. The material in a poster/sketch can later be reused by the original authors for a more extensive publication (e.g., a full paper) with more detailed content and mature results, without being considered self-plagiarism. Formatting Instructions To submit to EuroVis 2023 posters, authors prepare their submission as a 2-page PDF file ("sketch") using the conference LaTeX template<https://conferences.eg.org/eurovis2023/wp-content/uploads/sites/17/2022/10/…> (including a document class, a style file, a sample source file, and a corresponding PDF output file). On Overleaf<https://www.overleaf.com/>, this template can be imported easily by selecting "New Project" -> "Upload Project" and uploading the zip file. Select EGauthorGuidelines-eurovis23-poster.tex as the main document of the project and use it for your submission. Please make sure that an image embedded in your poster sketch does not contain transparent pixels (i.e., an alpha channel of a transparent color) because this will lead to problems when the resulting PDF is displayed or printed. Submissions can also include supplementary material such as videos or executable programs. The server will accept uploads of at most 200 MB, so multiple files of over 200 MB must be submitted separately. We encourage the use of digital videos to support poster submissions, particularly if part of, or all of the work covers interactive techniques. Please use only the most common video codecs (e.g., MP4 format using the H.264 codec) to maximize the chances that the reviewers can see it. A poster draft can also be added as additional material but is not mandatory for the submission. The final posters should be printed on paper no larger than paper size A0 (or A1) portrait (84.1cm x 118.9cm = 33.1in x 46.8in, cf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_size). Poster sketches are submitted using the Precision Conference System (PCS)<https://new.precisionconference.com/>. Please note you have to select Eurographics as Society. Author Guidelines EuroVis 2023 poster submissions will undergo a one-stage double-blind review process. Author identities will be hidden from the external reviewers. Authors should, therefore, not include their name or institution on the cover page of the initial submission, and should make an effort to ensure that there is no self-revealing information in the text. However, you will still need to provide a complete list of authors when submitting your poster so that members of the program committee can avoid conflicts of interest during reviewer assignment. All authors must be specified in the submission system (but not in the sketch or poster draft) at the time of the submission. Adding additional authors after the acceptance of a poster is not acceptable. We expect that the submissions will clearly discuss the novel and significant contributions as well as place them in the context of prior art in the field. At least one author of an accepted poster must attend the conference to present the work, and authors will also be required to present a brief (less than one minute) summary of their poster content at the opening preview session (also called fast-forward). Contributions must be written and presented in English. Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to invite you to contribute to the 21st EUROGRAPHICS Workshop on Graphics and Cultural Heritage (GCH 2023: <https://www.gch2023.eu/> https://www.gch2023.eu/). GCH this year is organised from the 4th to the 6th of September 2023, in the astonishing location of Salento (at Convitto Palmieri in Lecce, Italy) , and, for the first time, in co-location with XRSalento (XRSalento 2023); a special interactive session dedicated to XR for Cultural Heritage will be jointly organised on the 6th of September. Presentation. GCH 2023 welcomes presentations of new research, projects, applications and best practices that demonstrate how computer graphics and digital technologies are impacting cultural heritage research, preservation, simulation, dissemination and promotion of sustainable cultural tourism. Focus of this years forum is to present and showcase new developments at the crossroads of AI technologies with rendering, reconstruction and advanced user experiences applied to the cultural heritage. Aim of EG GCH is to foster discussion between AI, Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, HCI and Digital Heritage researchers, in a collaborative environment with cultural institutions, scholars in the cultural heritage domain and creative industries. We encourage the community to participate in the panel discussion on promises and concerns about the adoption of AI and reconstruction technologies by scientists and practitioners in the field of Creative Industries and Cultural Heritage. This year's GCH workshop will open up a new avenue and impact by creating a link between researchers with innovative ideas and scientific journals. Publication and Submission. Accepted full papers and short papers will be published by Eurographics and will be available with open access in the Eurographics Digital Library (EG GCH: <https://diglib.eg.org/handle/10.2312/452> EUROGRAPHICS Workshop on Graphics and Cultural Heritage ISSN 1811-864X, since 2014: GCH: ISSN 2312-6124). Accepted papers with a high innovation potential will receive a proposal to prepare an extended manuscript of their contribution to be submitted to a scientific journal.
